Are there any drawbacks whatsoever of smarty and ID vs Three? Do Three users have any sort of priority over the MVNOs?

Nope. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. Smarty includes EU roaming up to 12GB of your data and includes MMS pic messages too. Unsure about ID.

Smarty don't carry out credit checks whereas ID and Three do. Unsure if that's a factor you wish to consider or not.

Below is just an aside.

I believe the reason for this is that Smarty is pre-pay (aka pay as you go) as you pay first and receive what you pay for so Smarty never loses if you stop.

Other service providers work on a post-pay model where you receive certain services first (e.g. additional cost items) and pay afterwards, the post-pay model also assumes you will stay the full minimum term and you are given a lower price while still allowing a profit to be made. If you stop paying with the post-pay model, the service provider will be stuck with all the costs and could make a loss.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Three are the only ones who give a routable public IP via their 3internet APN, the rest are all CGNAT ?

Following on from above, depending on your use case being behind CGNAT can cause issues with port forwarding, amongst other things.

I'm on Three PAYG. It works with Wifi Calling. When I tried to switch to Smarty, Wifi calling didn't work and they weren't able to make it so.

Could be an issue with just my phone brand.
It would be interesting to know if anyone else has had the same issue.

My renewal is up with Vodafone and Smarty works out around a fiver cheaper a month but I need wifi calling.

I used wifi calling on smarty on satuday as phone signal was unable to call out due to signal being next to non where i was, used friend sky connection to make it.

Smarty does have WiFi calling but some devices aren't supported, and with most, it'll only kick in once your signal is low or off.

Best way to check is to put phone into airplane mode and switch on WiFi only, and it should connect and show WiFi calling.
