Has anyone else had a bad experience with the snow today.

1) dented my car when i skidded on ice

2) just had to leave it 4 miles from my house and walk the rest as its stuck in the snow.

I think today is the one and only day the 4x4 owners will have a huge smile on their faces.

Not quite. There was a new 4x4 in a ditch today.

I had to leave work early as I was just getting heavier. Spending the weekend at work isnt fun!

Took an hour for a 10 minute journey.

Had "fun" flying back from Spain on Thursday. Our flight from Alicante to Coventry was supposed to take off at 19:00hrs, but due to the snow it was "diverted" to Birmingham Intl. I say "diverted" because we had to wait for a plane to come from Birmingham before we could board for the return journey. The plane eventually turned up at 11:45pm, taking off again at 12:15am Friday morning. On arrival at Birmingham we were coached to Coventry to pick up the car. We got home at ~3am!

This country is pathetic when it comes to snow. God help us if we ever get snow like this in northern New York state.

Anyone else flown from Coventry? How the hell they can call this an airport is beyond me, a tin shack and a strip of tarmac! Tsk! ;)

Seeing as 4 x 4's are used for the school run, why were the schools closed? ;)

Don't get me started on that one!

When I were a lad..... I had to walk a mile and take a train ride to school - in all weathers! We're too soft on our kids these days, I can remember sitting in class with our coats on because the heating didn't work - these days they close the bloody school! Round here the kids were told on Wednesday that the school would be closed on Thursday because they were expecting snow! Jeez!

The closing of the school over heating depends on the head teacher we have had to work with coats on due to heating not working or oil delivery not arriving hard head teacher where i work.

Kits,
I may be wrong, but I thought that schools are covered under the The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations, which requires a minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius.

you have to be able to prove its that first. the coldest classroom in school is yr 5 and every time we put a thermometer in there it vanishes.. :)

My old school taught us that the only acceptable place to nick stuff was the local Woolworths
