So Slow. High Latency

Anyone else having problems ?

My adsl connection is rock solid but i keep suffering from high latency at the first hop after my router [83.217.160.18].

If i disconnect and reconnect the ping times come down to about 30ms, but after a couple of minutes they shoot back up again to 300 - 1200ms.

Support did change me from a fixed to Dynamic IP and this seemed to sort the problem for a day or so, but the high latency has now returned with a vengeance.

The symptoms sound like you have a torrent or some other p2p program that is saturating your connection. When you reconnect it takes a while for all the connections to re establish.
Setting up a f8lure or thinkbroadband ping graph may help highlight what the problem is.

Hi awitty,

If I have guessed correctly, I believe the issue you reported to us is resolved?

I did change your IP address firstly, but not to a dynamic one, it was simply just a different static IP address.

After the port reset I asked you to complete (removing your router from your tel. socket for 45 minutes) you did tell us things were back to normal. Has anything changed, is your connection still the same as before, or is it all okay now?

If you are still having problems please raise a support ticket so we can investigate for you.

Thanks,
