SOLVED! virgin contract expiring / looking for better options

It’s sorted if you read above. Thanks tho.

Have now edited subject to reflect that!
Ah I see, as long as your happy with that price, its currently
132mb £23.50
264mb £26

Personally, I would never be happy to pay more than a new customer, I might aswell sign up as a one, and use quidco, and get the £50-£100 extra from that aswell.

Also if you or anyone at home has o2, you get a free boost to the next speed. :)

did bidb show nothing? if you can get alternative companies like Youfibre, your be able to get 1000/1000 for £29.99 o.0

Ugh

I have just gone on to Virgin and it shows M125 and M250 at £26 and £29 respectively. I don’t know why you are seeing different prices but it hardly matters.

They moved me on to M250 and reduced it to £28 - that’s fine. I’m not a whiney old council planning and highways retiree that is going to get all excited about saving £3 so I can walk around patting my back pocket with a knowing smile.

I just didn’t want the price to double.

My original post made it clear that I had checked BIDB and other options already and there weren’t any.

no mention of that anywhere? o.0 maybe you posted in another thread? or you on about the thinkbroadband checker? thats a nightmare to use -.- bidb checker so much better.

anyway enjoy. :)

I'm currently in a similar situation with Virgin, my "discounted contract" running out in June. Though I'm told by Netomnia that Youfibre is going to be available in the coming months, I'm now stuck between a rock and a hard place waiting, paying more to Virgin until I can jump ship.

I find this entire situation with Virgin as an opportunity to fleece me even more. What with their dodgy contracts backing you into a long term contract with the carrot of cheaper prices whilst still upping it every April anyway.

Just give your 30 days notice to leave now and then get yourself a rolling contract elsewhere, whether that's with someone like Now TV over Openreach or going down the 5G Home broadband route instead.

Because "just giving your 30 days notice" is a simple procedure........lol
It can be.
Either call up between 8 and 9AM first thing and you'll be on hold for less than a minute and get someone in a UK Call centre that will process it with no hassle or questioning in my experience.

Or you can send a letter with the date, account number and your address to Virgin Media, Doxford Technology Park, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, SR43 4AA. They'll process it for you without having to call up and backdate your notice to start from the date on the letter.

Tried the latter when my mother wanted to leave. Even sent it recorded delivery. Instead they replied treating the cancellation letter as a complaint. Had to spend another hour on the phone talking them into actually cancelling.

They seem deliberately designed to make people to ring up to do simple tasks.

As has been said cant cancel online and in your case also not by letter. I have been trying to get them to pick up the hub5, as I cant get to a yodel collection centre, the collections team has no means of contacting them, there is no way to request online, so yep have to ring, and when I rang the people I speak to struggle to deal with it, 4th call led to someone ringing me to arrange pickup so I thought finally its done, but then its a no show.

In the meantime they have threatened to bill me for the equipment on June 8th, so I cancelled the DD, and if they do bill it will be exec office, as I am not going through another one of those calls.

They'd only do M250 for £30 a month for me. But considering its better than the £48 they were going to charge on M125 (and no concrete lead time on youfibre actually installing on my road) I've had to accept I'm going to have to stomach VM for another 18 months.

Hopefully my final 18 months with them.......fingers crossed.

With the revelation in the youfibre section localised pricing is becoming a thing, I suspect this might be affecting retention deals people are getting offered.

If true if you live in a FTTP blackspot, MDU or whatever (meaning limited fast options) VM might exploit that.
