I thought it a good idea, though I can see the point. Dummies in government like Herr Jaqui Schmit seem to have no idea about what's going on.
Rather than chastise the BBC, the government aught to set up a service that combines the know-how from the third party freeware security experts (that are supporting Windows after the event) to prevent botnets occuring on British computers in the first place.
It aught to be illegal to sell a computer without free software to do that. Anyone buying such a computer will then be informed of the dangers.
Everything less is tantamount to supporting Microsoft's very malicious code.
If I had my way a BSOD would contain the message:
"Dummy; you should have bought Linux. And it's 80 quid cheaper!"
