Speed Compare

Didnt say it was.

I said they will say that to you, and prolly investigate, but that doesnt equal plus net problem.
thats as much as they can do right now..
norfett said:

It may lie outside their control, or maybe users systems or even something to do with BT line.
I dont think it's users comps or even setup, however BT may have a hand in this, not a line problem but a network problem as a whole

Hope it gets sorted for you :)
Cheers, me too :)

And here is what Ian Wild of Plusnet had to say on the subject..
Ian Wild on Plusnets Forum said:
HI Guys,

We now have four different pieces of work lined up for Thursday morning, but I can't confirm any of it until certain equipment arrives at Telehouse. This will basically be us upgrading / rebuilding 3 parts of our core network and I will post more details just as soon as they are confirmed.

Thursday will be moment of Truth and if it doesn't fix it for everyone, it should at least allow us to make a much clearer call about what is wrong in each on of these cases.

Again, can I thnk everyone for their feedbck so far - It has driven the development we are doing now.

As it stands, we won't be doing anything else before Thursday, so unless anything chnages significantly it will only really be then that your results, problems or not, become useful again...

Regards,

Ian

Download through Transparent Cache:
209KB/s (1672Kb/s) - Superb - much higher than expected

Download through alternative Cache (webcache.blueyonder.co.uk):
0KB/s (0Kb/s) - **** SERVER ERROR: Unexpected error from Server****

yeah, i knew it was a 1:1 2048k both ways connection, but what im meaning is that isnt SDSL (if available) cheaper for you, £7200 p/a is a bit steep  as sdsl is also same speed both ways except it isnt 1:1

looks like the work has finished at +net, so im now officially posting my ADSLGuide speedtest result..

Downstream 1809 Kbps (226.1 KB/sec) 1953 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 244 Kbps (30.5 KB/sec) 263 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Much Better :D

Hey triaxor you got hairs on the palm of your hand? it's the first sign you know.:D :D

After looking at that I though triaxor had gone a bit loopy. Telling himself to calm down, calm down.

Where did whoevers posts go? I dont think you can delete them unless your a mod.

Just looked, hes not listed as a member anymore! What did he do that was so naughty?

Nildram 512k basic, £22.99 (although it could be £23.99 I never can remember)

For some reason he asked for his account to be deleted I think :\

My activation and conversion date is the 3rd of December.. I can't wait :D

BlueYonder 2mbps from Telewest:

Downstream 2374 Kbps (296.8 KB/sec) 2563 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 231 Kbps (28.9 KB/sec) 249 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Blueyonder is pretty f'ing impressive! I mean a 2mbps connection hitting almost 300KBps without overheads! I've been using it today at my brothers house and it really is awesome!

I only got broadband on Thursday but here's my results and I must admit quite happy with them.

Downstream 453 Kbps (56.6 KB/sec) 489 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 250 Kbps (31.3 KB/sec) 270 Kbps (inc. overheads)

I'm on BT Yahoo! 512k

On another note when the BT engineer was here I asked what the noise atenuation was and he said 43.6db. The question is would I be able to get faster connection than 512k if I wanted to. I don't know what the line length is and the BT checker says that I can't but I don't know what the noise level is for a 1mb connection.

I think for 1 and 2mbps ADSL connections you need 40db at the very most. Never mind though with ADSL bonding you'll be able to get a 1mbps connection even if your too far for a standard 1mbps connection.. although it will be a little bit more expensive.
