Speed Upgrade

Like all of us you will have to wait and see. I have asked a few that work for NTL but none are giving anything away.
Havent got long to wait now just 5 days.

yes but you have to ask yourself are you really getting the speed upgrade for free?

no.. as usual a company finds ways to claw back the money on it's otehr products

"NTL Price Increases Coming Soon

# Tuesday, July 27, 2004
Our sources have confirmed that ntl will be raising the price of their Digital TV service and there will be an increase on ntl’s telephone call features, prices are expected to rise in September this year."

Which is around the same time the speed increases are reported to be finished. what a con..

The price increases will mean price decrease for me as the plan I use will drop by £1 a month and the cost of the calls drop by a 1p per call.

Not everything is as you read it. Each package has its own benefits the one I chose benefitted me best and has proved to be worth every penny. :D

speed upgrade

i am download 'something' right now. and i must say that this is the speed i am getting

"47.68 MB in 09:26 (86.16 KBps)"

that is my fastest average so far! i can't believe it, ntl have acutally increased my bandwidth! for those who were sceptical, be that way no more!

ta, mic

Yes it seems Manchester was upgraded just after midnight and they did get a lot of areas upgraded still some to go and the STB will be after the SACMs. It seems the Belfast proxys can't handle the speed as they are using Manchester proxys to get the speeds.

god dam bt harr up and get your ass moving

if i wait any longer than 2 months for 2 or 3 (3MBIT YEAR RIGHT BUDDY) i will rip my hair out

The date of the long promised speed upgrade must be getting close now. Will it be 1st August?
Is this the upgrade to 1MB? I have run the speed test that ISPreview provide, and it says I am not even rated as Broadband. Am I missing something? (This is Hampshire). Cheers.

Hi try this speed tester and tell post here what your results are a small window will pop up to give the results if you have this blocke dplease allow it for the test.

Hullo folks. I forgot I posted here, and just found my own message! It still seemed slow, so did the suggested test, and it returns 481kbps. This is early morning, so should be fast, I thought. I thought we were supposed to be on 2mb speed. It's no good trying to contact NTL. Plenty of letters telling me to take up TV offers etc, but it won't work the other way! I tried a test last night straight to the modem, with the router taken out, and that was about the same. (Under 512 MB). Is this normal? Cheers.

Have you tried rebooting the modem?
some had top reboot to get the upgrade if you have hten you need to contact NTL and get them to check. It could be a fault with your modem/line/card in the green box. You will not get the increase now unless you do something like telling them you modem is still at 512K.

Can you go to http://192.168.100.1/ user root pass root and check what your modem information is.

Thanks for that. I checked the modem, via the link you gave, and the only part I could understand was max download 512000, max upload 64000. I can try contacting NTL, but don't hold out much hope. Cheers.

Well, I rang NTL, and spoke to a very helpful lady in India (I imagine). It took about five minutes, and our account was upgraded to 2mb. Thanks for your help, folks.:smilet:
