SpeedTest Conflict

Why do I get two wildly different set of results if I use the Ispreview Speedtest or the BT Wholesale Speedtest on my Wi-Fi
I appreciate Wi-Fi speed will vary but surely both tests should be near the same ?
Who is correct ?

ie
Ispreview:- 30.5 and 3.3
BT: 21 and 10.4

Ispreview 16.2 and 3
BT: 25 and 10.87

The ISPreview test is just an integration of Thinkbroadband's checker (i.e. you're best asking TBB), although a test conducted via WiFi is usually best avoided as it adds too many unpredictable variables into the mix (always do wired tests and with other devices disconnected).

I'd also try Speedtest.net to see how that compares. But my guess is that the difference may be related to single vs multi-threaded testing. In any case you'd need to conduct a lot more tests via a wired connection, and at different times of day, before being able to establish a solid baseline.

I was conducting tests on the Wi-fi as I have loaned a "Repeater" to play with as downstairs the speed can be atrocious
Upstairs on my Desktop, ethernet to Router I get a solid 38 and 7.7 Mbs,
But even that conflicts with the upload Wi-fi BT speed check of 10.4 and 10.7 Mbs ( see above)
However, surprisingly the Repeater did give me +20 Dbm increase in Signal strenght downstairs.
I will carry out more tests as you suggest.

Also try speedtest at Samknows, it seem to give me the most consistent results.
