I have been having recent problems with disconnections from my ISP. After doing all the necessary checks and uninstalling modem and re-installing. I phoned support where I had to wait in a queque for 30 mins and was told that it was my burglar alarm which has a speech dialler that is causing the disconnections. I phoned my alarm company who told me they are not allowed to put their connection through a splitter as the burglar could just pull it out. They also said that if the alarm is not activated then there should be no conflicts with my internet connection. It was also mentioned that it could be sky that is causing the disconnections but I have had sky for many years with no conflicts. If I reboot I can reconnect no problem but cut off again intermittently. It seems worse during the day although I have had a few disconnections in the evening. Another thing I find which I find odd is that when I am disconnected and go into outlook express and hit work offline then wait a min I can reconnect without rebooting. I also have outlook set not to disconnect after downloading.
