Spusu drain roaming allowance when UK data has finished.

I just checked my Special plan with Spusu for 2.90£ where you get 1GB data. Both the roaming and UK data are now 0. I cant seem to understand this kind of formula, I'll just leave it the way it is it's kinda freaking me out now lol. They both drained at the same time.

Well of course they drained at the same time, they are the same allowance.

You get 1GB allowance in total on that plan. You are entitled to use the full 1GB while roaming if you wish.

You don’t get 1GB domestic and 1GB roaming.

This is the new default (#BrexitBenefits).

You have X amount of data, of which only Z can be used for roaming.

When actually roaming you'll have at your disposal whichever is the smallest out of what's left of X for the month and Z.
To be clear the UK remains generous in EU roaming limits. EU rules have always and continue to allow for roaming caps, which is based on a per euro per GB calculation, which is an increasing amount each year.

Some countries and operators apply very stingent limits, often hidden in the fine print. Some are more obvious - eg Vodafone Spain apply an EU roaming limit of just 7GB on their 50GB plan - granted it is only 10 euro a month.

We were actually quite lucky when in the EU as most UK operators applied very generous caps way above the minimum requirements. However over time the most "generous" deals have turned into much more stringent caps and/or daily charges. Eg Three EU roaming used to be 20GB but was "simplified" to be 12GB so it was the same as rest of world destinations - then the £2/£5 charge came in - yet the cap still applies!

Other operators have gone the other way though - Lebara used to list a per plan cap in a complex PDF list. That went in 2020. iD used to have an "open data policy" where you'd be charged after a certain amount depending on plan cost - that was removed last year and changed to a blanket 30GB - for most plans this meant an increase. Legacy iD customers have also benefitted as they have no EU roaming limit at all anymore.

i think the confusion here is caused by the fact that spusu state UK and EU allowances as two separate entities, in which they are not.

If you have 30GB and can use 20GB in the EU, once you've used 20GB of your 30GB UK allowance, you will only have 10GB to use in the UK or EU.

I haven't yet downloaded the app where the confusion might arise there but there's nothing in the pre-contract or terms that I noticed where this confusion shows and the first I heard of this possible confusion was this thread.

I've just visited their main page to see if I can spot the confusion, and one click down shows "Part of the monthly available data allowance can be used within the EU at no additional cost."
