spusu uk

I like the Spusu 1 special plan for £2.90, good alternative to 1p mobile with their minimum spend requirement. However, I can't find any mention what they charge when you go over the 1GB, or do you just get cut off?

I can live with that, good enough for the occasional whatsapp message
Yes, that would probably work. AFAIK the limited speed is 64Kbps.. very 90s :)

If it's still like it was in April, then it practice you'll be able to do more than that (stream video, etc). See my replies to this thread:

But of an odd one, but thought it might be of use in case anyone else gets this little glitch.

On iOS, because Spusu doesn’t have any specific Carrier Settings (it’s not an official Apple Carrier) it relies on the generic ones baked into iOS, which amongst other things explains the “LTE” indicator at the top vs. the usual European “4G” one.

Anyway, I kept noticing on my iPhone that WiFi Calling kept turning itself off in settings, sometimes randomly even when not initiating a reboot, and seem to have managed to stop it doing this. If you go to:

Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data Network

until you see the following screen, and switch off this little toggle, it seems to cure the quirk of randomly deactivating WiFi Calling. So long as you have “web” written manually in the APN fields (MMS doesn’t work on Spusu) then everything else works correctly.

Might be of use to some, or could just be an isolated issue with me, but thought it was worth the share regardless!

It feels like a sustainable way of doing offers... but Lebara's (and Talk Home's) intro offers are just so low it's a hard battle - especially with some of the other caveats of Spusu right now.

I think Spusu has more sustainability in the sector so I hope they stick around, but only time will tell. Right now I can't even port from Lebara to Spusu which is a nightmare in itself.
Experiment over for my parents.

Worked well in Switzerland for them but the number never got ported due to this issue with Lebara so it's been running as a second SIM the whole time. I suppose technically Spusu owe money due to failing to port but they're not inclined to chase, especially when the service cost £1.

Kicker was they get no signal at work and they say it won't stream smoothly whilst they commute (surprise to me as I'd expect EE to be smoother than Vodafone but hey ho).

They're back on Lebara now, without a double port.

Is there any disadvantage to 1p then (minus the cost)? Seems like a no brainer
They don't offer eSIMs (yet).

I've been with spusu for about 2 months now. Aside from a disastrous porting experience from Three, it has been great so far. Rarely make voice calls so can't really comment on that.

And thankfully, I seem to be getting all OTP texts too.

After being on the £1/month promotional rate for 3 months I have now cancelled my spusu plan which will be effective at the end of this month. I did this via WhatsApp chat (as I didn't want to port the number out) and it was very easy (they just needed my phone number and customer number, no extra verification at all).

All OTP's I've tried have worked, and the data speeds are pretty close to uncapped EE although sometimes slightly slower, but getting 5 GB of EE data for £1 was a bargain. However like other users I have experienced much higher Pings (21 on EE vs 55 on spusu). The lack of any HD voice was also an issue.
The throttled speed after the data ran out was interesting, as it didn't seem to be strict throttling to 64 KBPS but more like a gradual decrease in speeds from 8 MBPS to 3 MBPS and then to below 0.1 MBPS. And it seems they prefer to cut off your data connection if you download files too fast on the throttled speed, rather than throttling it down.
A pattern I have noticed across lots of these MVNO's is a data add-on system which is different to normal. On spusu there are no add-ons, you can only increase a spend cap where extra data is then charged at 0.4p/MB. And Mozillion lets you buy them but only in chomks of 1 GB for £5 each.
Do let me know if you'd like me to try anything more as I have the rest of this month left.

Esim is an issue but it isnt that inconvenient for me personally. Yeah I also never had the OTP issue.

But I will be porting to 1p soon, I hope i dont run into any porting out issue with spusu. I had a nightmare last year when i was porting from lyca to spusu where i couldnt even use my number for a whole month.

Unfortunately for me it's a deal-breaker as I have a US-sourced iPhone that does not have a physical sim slot.

Turns out I spoke too soon! It reverted to the same issue as before and WiFi Calling has switched itself off again.

I emailed them, and to be fair, got the usual very prompt response - unfortunately was not an ideal answer, but oh well, for me it's only a second SIM so not relying on it as my main number.

"Thank you for reaching out.

Regarding the WiFi Calling turning off, it is a known issue and our engineers are working with apple to stop this issue from happening. We do not have the time frame of when this will be resolved."

Well had Spusu sim for a couple of weeks now, initially I was unable to get a signal on the iPhone SE I put it in, then it took two weeks too transfer number from Lebara...

Now I've put the sim in a Motorola G34 5G and while it connects to 4G on bands 3 and 20 and 5G on n28 I'm unable to get 2G signal meaning I'm not able to make or received calls...

VoLTE is saying provisioned but not working... thats two MVNO's that have s**t the bed on me now...

Lebara wouldn't send texts in my Motorola G32.

Starting to think these budget operators are not worth the hassle, missing so many calls now.

I ended up buying a family member who had a Motorola a Samsung as the Motorola was really temperamental with VoLTE and VoWiFi.

Since she’s been on the Samsung there hasn’t been a problem with VoLTE on any network I’ve tried, including Spusu. I think the problem is Motorola rather than the MVNOs.

Is there currently some sort of delay when it comes to porting numbers over to Spusu? I know that there have been issues with Lebara numbers but I wonder if this problem is more widespread?

I’ve been on spusu for a while now, I noticed a couple months ago my iPhone started identifying the eSIM as Tele2. Since then I’ve only had Wi-Fi Calling turn itself off once - it was happening much more often before. Odd, especially since I haven’t roamed with it yet.

I also noticed backup calling with a travel eSIM seems to work on spusu (or at least registers). I remember someone mentioning that’s an issue with some providers.

So more Spusu kookiness which could be of interest to some...! 🧐

Have noticed when browsing on an iPhone using Safari and Spusu, it often resulted in a noticeable (sometimes 20 seconds!) lag/delay to get a webpage browsing. Having suspected this was something to do with iCloud+ Private Relay, I turned it off for that SIM and as if by magic it's loading pages instantly instead.

Also good to know that if you use a VPN such as Nord or whatever, then this doesn't affect Spusu browsing in the way iCloud+ Private Relay does. 😎
