Just sharing this ISPR article here with you folks in case you missed it.
It hasn't been announced in the UK yet, but probably just a matter of time.

I figured that was coming . Don't see it ever becoming a dominate internet service .

This guy is headed for his own demise. What he did to twitter and the staff is totally unacceptable.
Well, I'm still holding my breath. If I were him I'd also like a clean slate and bring my own people.

"What he did to twitter and the staff is totally unacceptable."

I agree that it is a cowardly way of telling people they were surplus to what Twitter needed.

BUT.

He did not want to buy the company and it was a court that told him he had to. If I had made an offer for a business and changed my mind when the disclosure flushed out things detrimental I would want to pull out. US law told him he couldn't so he is saying I'll do what I think is right to make it profitable (again).

There's ways to do things. And the impact on those people wasn't the way to go about it.

For all the positive developments Musk has helped to foster in some key areas (e.g. rockets, cars), he always seems to distract from that with an equal amount of awfulness in others. But back to satellites..

At present, I think Starlink has access to a fair bit of capacity through its UK ground stations, and the company will be aware of differences in regulation on this side of the pond. As such, I'm not sure quite how they'll approach the issue of capacity in the UK, as it can differ between markets.

By comparison, the USA has a particularly large issue on this front that Starlink needs to resolve. But in all cases, Starlink is a commercial business, and in order to put them on the path to profit they may need to be a bit more restrictive than they are today.

So we get 1TB/month to use during the day and unlimited between 11pm and 7am. Speeds get de-prioritized during the day if we go over the 1TB limit, but the connection continues to work?

Musk's behaviour aside, this isn't that bad for a satellite connection that costs £75/month (assuming they do the same in the UK). Their main competitor Viasat has a 300GB limit and if we look at 4G/5G, EE has a 600GB FUP on their "5G broadband" plans and networks that have higher/no limits are often criticised because they're overselling their network...

This looks like a bad deal for those of us with good enough land-based alternatives, but Starlink isn't aimed at people with good FTTC/FTTP or 4G/5G. It's for people that have to use ADSL or some slow LTE connection... and for them 1TB and 100Mbps+ is a huge upgrade. I can see why they're very popular in large countries like the US or Australia.
