Starlink Throttling UK Broadband Speeds

I'm still in the process of investigating this, but it does seem like Starlink have started doing some more aggressive traffic management on UK connections too. The kind that would probably raise the interests of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) if people complain.

Any other Starlink users on here seeing this issue?

I'm not surprised. I wouldn't trust any technology from a company owner who is categorically known for changing his mind on serious matters relating to products already sold to consumers in ways that fundamentally undermine their use and performance, either in a money grabbing exercise, or because of the invalid overselling of promises and failure to deliver.

Fancy buying something that cost hundreds of pounds in the first instance and many more gold coins to run to get a service that literally has to go outside the earth's atmosphere and back, to replace failing key infrastructure that has been consistently passed over for upgrade by the infrastructure owners for decades, to then be told sorry, our service isn't quite what we said it was going to be so we're going to prevent you from using so much and still charge you for the privilege.

I have starlink, i use it as a backup to my BT line.

I have found reliably (despite fairly heavy (3TB+ a month) use) it's given me 150+ Mbps, up to 260 or so - however given that I was happy it was working fine I disconnected the plug forgot about it for a week or so, i rehooked it up yesterday, downloads were again 150+, all was great, then suddently after 50gb of downloading it was seemingly locked at 50- steam would not download any faster, nor would anything else i tried.

I raised a ticket with starlink expressing concern at this and asking why i was being throttled, they wrote back insisting they're not throttling me - but my dish is showing a hardware issue, so they've sent me a new dish and given me a months credit.

All very peculiar - a hardware fault that locks my download at 50mbps? I don't think for a second it is, but could this be some kind of limp mode for dishy, where it reduces itself to minimum viable performance when it detects specific out-of-spec states in order to try to ensure continued service until a replacement arrives? Obviously just conjecture - but assuming their customer service are telling the truth i can't think what else makes sense!

"Thank you for reaching out to Starlink Support and apologies for the delayed response. We do want to assure you that your speeds are not throttled. However, We have taken a look at the health of your kit and noticed that your dish is firing an alert indicating it is in need of replacement. As a preventative measure, we have decided to issue a return on your Starlink and have created a replacement order kit to the address on file at no cost to you. Once the package have been scanned by our shipper, you will receive a tracking number in your email and will be able to track your package through the app as well. Initiating a return of your Starlink sent all necessary DHL shipping instructions with return labels to the email on file.
...

In the meantime, we have issued a one month service credit to offset the inability to use our product. (This service credit will be applied to next months billing cycle)."
