Strange issue accessing some websites via CF

Would someone on CF mind seeing if you're able to load https://reolink.com/ and let me know please.

Can't figure out what the issue is but this website isn't loading, I've tested via Virgin and it loads fine and enabling a VPN it loads fine too. Everything is fine DNS wise, IPv6 is disabled too so scratching my head on this one, I've tried changing IP via CF using MAC address but same in happening on different IP though it's giving me the same C-class.

Would be handy to know if anyone else has the same issue as this one has got me scratching my head.

Thanks

There is something quite subtle going on here. I can access 2 connections.

The “default” community fibre connection won’t load the page. If I use the other connection it will load, then going back to the community fibre connection it will load in the same browser (perhaps whatever is needed is cached).

Using another browser (on community fibre) it won’t load again.

Indeed https://reolink.com/ is not accesible via CF and works fine via VM. Raise a case with CF support, seems like a circular routing issue since traceroute shows duplicated hops.

Apologies - CommunityFibre --- not CityFibre -- Long Day 🥵

Thanks for the feedback and confirmation there is something odd going on, I'll open a ticket and see what they say.

Loads fine for me on the CF 3gb package.
Also tried loading the website in FF/Chrome/Edge and it worked just fine.

The issue appears to be with asset requests made to `home-cdn.reolink.us`.

reolink.com is fronted by AWS CloudFront, this connection works fine, but the page loads plenty of assets from home-cdn.reolink.us which is fronted by CloudFlare at 104.21.233.233 and 104.21.233.234.

I am getting timeouts pinging either addresses, and from this point on Community Fibre needs to figure out whether there's incorrect routing info or whether CloudFlare is denying connections (unlikely).

---

Tried raising a ticket but their page kept erroring out. Sigh.

I can't find any contact info for their NOC either, does anyone have a lead? I have lost faith in their first line support being able to understand this as a network fault...

Do you mind posting a traceroute please, on the same package here and still seeing the issue presently.

Thanks both for additional info, I've received a very generic template reply from CF that ignores everything I ticketed, regardless I'll reply per their template and cross my fingers. Interesting that your traceroute takes an entirely different route over ntt vs mine and the other one above with an issue that both go over cogentco.

Will update if I hear back.

Out of interest can you ping home-cdn.reolink.us - I don't get any response to that but using 3rd party site it can ping it so I guess you probably can do too.

Good luck with that. I have raised a case for a similar issue where it seems only my CF connection is affected and I never got a decent response. In the end I just gave up and decided to configure my router to route traffic to the affected IPs via my VM connection. It's likely I will keep this dual connection setup since I don't trust a single ISP can serve my needs with 100% reliability. And since both my wife and myself do contracting we can't afford to be offline. On the positive side CF's connection is super fast, symmetric and low latency. But if anything goes wrong you will most likely not get a good/speedy resolution.

I have the same setup as in a similar situation here, just keep the VM for redundancy and works well, as you say CF is excellent if it works which it does 99% of the time, VM on the other hand is pretty terrible with terrible CS also, however for the minimal cost it'll suffice as a backup.

I can set up the routing as you've mentioned and perhaps that will be the easiest way to solve it, out of interest what other sites have you experienced similar issues with as I feel like I have seen other issues but not noted them, would be interesting to see if I have the same issues as you.

See the post I linked on my previous response. One Google Docs IP and one WhatsApp IP is unreachable to me on my CF connection.

Thanks completed missed the link, tested all of those but unable to reproduce myself perhaps a different issue though as even though I can't ping and timeout tracerouting home-cdn.reolink.us I still get a few hops, not even getting the first hops is very odd!

Believe they're looking to gather more data points. I'm sure you can empathise with that.

If it's still broken I'll reach out to someone this afternoon.

Having tried a couple of tracerts, one connection Community Fibre, one not, I've observed the following.

The home-cdn.reolink.us resolves to 104.21.233.233

The "working" connection has these two hops:

9 13 ms 14 ms 5 ms 141.101.71.107
10 6 ms 5 ms 5 ms 104.21.233.233

Community Fibre's version is

7 3 ms 3 ms 5 ms 141.101.71.107

13 * * * Request timed out.
14 * * * Request timed out.
15 * * * Request timed out.
16 * 5 ms 3 ms 104.21.233.233

or alternatively not getting there in 30 hops if I try it again.

141.101.71.107 seems to be Cloudflare so it looks like when a connection from Community Fibre arrives it is treated differently.

I note Cloudflare use "Anycast".

Just speculating, that may be where the problem might be found.
