Strange issue with Three when power fails

I know, and also winbox is available as a snap. But still I've tried all recent ROS 7 releases and won't boot for me, even netinstall'ed ROS 7 directly and fails to boot.

That blog post is very interesting. I was in touch with Mikrotik to downgrade the modem filmware just to rule out that it wasn't a firmware update which caused my speed issues on the 19th January (dropping from 20Mbps - 47Mbps, down to about average of about 8Mbps from 23rd onwards. Seeing the same on a Pixel phone, with a Smarty SIM, also showing a nice upload compared to pathetic downloads, which suggests mast congestion.

I guess it is partly my fault as I have been mapping the masts and helping local people figure out how to get a good connection. Used to actively encourage people to go for Three's offer of B535 Router, Unlimited data for £16pm, now regretting that !!

The B535 can do better carrier aggregation than your Mikrotik LTE6, it's mainly the Band 28 and Band 32 support that's missing.

Only have Band 3 and Band 20 on the mast I'm connected to. Three "carrier" policy is to have Band 20 as Primary and Band 3 as CA, which is slow and unstable! So I tend to cell lock it to Band 3 on local mast, although after a day or so of continuous uptime, the router seems to settle down to Band 3 only itself.

Most annoying thing about it is that there is a 3 IRE mast about 3 times the distance from me and local 3 UK mast broadcasting on Band 1, 3 and 20 with more bandwidth on each band and with better speeds than I can get via 3 UK! But I am limited to 15Gb of data on that per month!

Yes 3 Ireland have launched 5G on band 3 according to confusedbird: https://confusedbird.com/thread-139.html

They need a euro bank account which I don't have and run a credit check on RoI address where I don't live! Used to be easy to get contracts, anyone with a pulse could get credit, but things are different now since the bankers fecked things up!

I know someone in Ireland who uses a €20 (per 28 days) PAYG sim in a router - it offers unlimited data and you can set up an automatic topup with a credit/debit card - no credit checks required. This is the plan I believe:

I think you might have to activate the sim in a phone first and have an address in the Republic for delivery (and possible registration).

Oh interesting, I would like to figure out exactly where the mast is first and see if I can point the MikroTik dish at it directly. Might have to go mast hunting !!
