Strong 4G signal on router but very slow/no internet

I wonder if anyone can help.

i have a uk vodafone unlimited uncapped sim and a Huawei B535 and a TP link MR600.

up until a few weeks ago I was getting a decent consistent 10-20mbps. Enough for me.

Suddenly a few weeks, this dropped considerably and often I get nothing. However the router still shows 4 bars 4G signal?? I’ve tried wifi and wired connections but both the same.

I’ve contacted vodafone and they say nothing has changed with the mast etc

Perhaps the signal has changed but why is it still showing 4 bars of 4G on the router? The spare router does the same.

I had a similar situation with three a while ago but when their signal suddenly reduced the router showed this, which I would expect.

any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, full bars is relative. Are you able to check in the router the rsrp, sinr etc values?

Find attached a table with sample values, so you can figure out how good the signal is.

Have you tried moving the router around?

yes i’ve moved it around, to be honest i chose the place where it is because it has 4 bars, maybe I should experiment a bit more!

Choose a place where those values improve, use the table as reference. See if it helps at all.

Perhaps your usual mast went down or something and the router is tuning in to another one. Note the cell id if shown, see if it changes.
The radio signal values seems alright.

Glad it's working.

Glad it worked. I used to put the sim from the router into my phone and walk from window to window watching the SINR values. Got some puzzled looks from the missus :D
