Take a quick sky quiz can you get the right answer

Welcome to the great sky bb quiz part 01 - is the following true or false

a
this is a "true unlimited" service, you can upload & download as much as you like 24/7 and thats ok by us, we have no restrictions in place regarding this matter

b
if you download or upload too much will ban you from our services and close your account with us

c
we will tell you if we make any changes or place more restrictions on heavy uses.

D
if you download or upload too much we will implement an array of sneaky and boarder-line freudulent protocols and deny all knowledge of this, these include:

Blocking ports that your torrent client uses.
Herding and tying you into a tiny ip range before finally locking you down to a static ip that we say isn't, because the lease can be from an hour to 6 months or a year (funny as my ip hasn't changed in 3 months).we do this with your routers mac address
if you go to rapidshare, mega upload ect we will route you to easynet where we will give everyone the same ip which is also on a ban list so you can't download or even sign in.

Answers below

a - false
it is not a true unlimited service, we simply offered this for 12 months to grab customers from virgin media when they implemented their traffic management program

b - false
we will not ban you, why would we? We are taking your money suckers!!!!

C - false
no we won't we will act like idiots, saying nah you must be confused, or just put the phone down on you.

D - true true true congratulations you are a winner, don't be a loser ditch sky!!!!!!!

Part 02 coming soon - don't miss it!!!!!!

I haven't used P2P on my home Sky Broadband Unlimited connection for quite a long time now, except for some game downloads through Steam and they were quite huge (10GB to 20GB overall). I didn't experience any performance loss and haven't seen any changes to suggest that they're restricting traffic.

However you should be aware that truly exception usage probably wouldn't require an Fair Usage Policy, you could in theory still run into their AUP if your use is astronomically high. We are talking hundreds and hundreds of GigaByte's though, way.. way above normal levels.

still what makes me wonder.. what is normal this day and age? with youtube.. HD streaming movies, iPlayer, gaming (patches), etc... (just felt the need to state this random opinion)

That's a well known problem, that regularly affects several UK ISPs, not just Sky, and is a result of the way their implementation of the IWF filtering system works:-

http://www.ispreview.co.uk/story/20...nd-isp-customers-blocked-from-rapidshare.html

And it doesn't just affect file sharing sites:-

http://support.webs.com/webs/topics... widget&utm_source=widget_webs&from_gsfn=true

There is a workaround for rapidshare by using one of their non-UK IP addresses, see the host file fix in the first article.

always these 3 on guard

you 3 are always on damage control.and who made you arbitrary on what huge downloading is.you see today, 20gb is miniscule, now huge download capacity i would class as say 500Tb to 5000Tb and a whole lot more., and "astronomical" well i'd call that a google.i suggest you "google" that if you don't know how many digits are in a google.hmmmmm not a fare site this, when you have the guard dogs snapping at your feet!!!

That comment made no sense.

Being a guard dog is fundamentally different from offering a free opinion. Nobody has restricted what you said, I just offered another viewpoint from yours and Mel even gave you an idea of how you might get around some of the problems.

There's always a physical limit on how much traffic can flow down a pipe and even between countries. As a shared platform you have to remember that often what big ISP's advertise simply doesn't reflect the reality of how the broadband platform works. Sky promotes an "unlimited" service so you rightly expect what they advertise, even if in reality they'd collapse if everybody tried to get it all at the same time.

let me explain myself why i may seem a bit angry

i deliberately took a job with sky and strapped a hidden camera to myself.what i have captured makes my blood boil.i felt so sorry for the phone staff as they are continuously bullied and abused by their floor managers into saying and doing what sky want.if they questioned any of threir practices they were threatened with demotion and the sack, and vilified by the floor manages, they spread nasty rumors around, creating a nightmare environment with their peers.i saw many in tears.i will release this footage on youtube once edited and when i feel the time is right.

Do include a link to that when you do but be careful not to make accusations before it's up because that would run into legal problems.
