Talk Talk experiences and opinions please!

I'm moving into a house where the person I am living with has Talk Talk phone and BB. Having read the comments amount this ISP I'm feeling distinctly worried as I am rather a heavy user. If anyone could answer a few questions I would appreciate it.

1-If you get kicked off, do they charge a fee for breach of contract, or is that only if you leave voluntarily?
2-Is it only specific P2P ports that they throttle?
3-What do they define as heavy usage in peoples experience?

If it was up to me I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole, but it's not and I don't want to upset my new housemate!

TIA

I would read through their T&C and FAQ see if the answer is there also give them a ring as if you are thinking about moving to them and ask them these questions.

I would like to consider taking on free broadband offer from Talk Talk but can not get the Availability checking on their website to work. I wonder if many people have tried this, and it has worked for them?

it has been working as some found out they had to take ADSLmax for £10 a month making the offer around the £30 mark

i live in ayrshire and have a small exchange aprox 850m from house talk talk website say i can get free broadband but it would take 3 weeks for calls to activate and end of july for broadband to activate seems along wait for bb

When they announced the free broadband the checker said I could sign up to the £20.99 deal and my broadband would be activated at the end of may. I've just checked again and it says end of July 06! That's a hell of a long time to be without broadband. Glad I had the sense to stay put! ;)

Some potential TalkTalk customers might find that July is a fairly common connection date because this is when BT's new automatic bulk customer transfer system to LLU comes into effect.

TalkTalk consider this new transfer system to be better than the current system and so avoid some of the occasional problems other ISPs have apparently experienced.

Forget Them Giving Away (not so) Free Broadband, I Wouldnt Use Carphone Warehouse If They Paid Me!

Thank you for the replies folks. I think I'll just have to suck it and see. I'll report back at some point ;)

Please do, Id like to know what its like. Im trying to convince a friend not to go on it, but they keep telling me 'its free'.

*Sigh*

I think the word free and unlimited have been over used in the internet business for many years.

One thing to remember you get what you pay for pay nothing expect nothing. :)

I had just written an in-depth review, but the forum decided to log me out, so I lost it.

In summary, they're crap. Encrypt your Bit Torrent and don't even expect to get anything else resembling a server working.

Might just be tolerable if all you want to do is surf, and even then we are getting regular random disconnections.
