I cancelled my contract with TalkTalk for several reasons and they were very quick to shutdown the service but I could almost predict that they would be equally slow to stop using the direct debit to raid my bank account. What do you know? I was right! Anyway, (and I should have done this straight away) I went to my online banking to cancel the direct debit - now on the confirmation screen, my bank displays the telephone number of the originator so you can inform them of the cancellation. The number is 02087538223 and I thought that if I gave them a quick call, I would get through to the finance department to reverse the payments they had 'inadvertently' taken from my account.

The number is unobtainable - I guess they must have had it cut off to avoid all the abuse from disgruntled former customers.
