Testing the mANT LTE 5o

This is a 4G 5dBi antenna, which can be found on ebay for around £23:

The MikroTik brochure is here:

Compared to the Chateau LTE12, whose internal antennas are 4dBi, it's a modest 1dbi increase.
Compared to the LTAP Mini, it's a 1.5dBi increase.
Compared to the LTAP, it's a 1dBi increase.
Compared to the WAP. it's a 1dBi increase.

So for my LTAP Mini, this will probably make a much greater difference than for my Chateau LTE12.

You have to source your own SMA cables, but are there any tests I should carry out with these omnidirectional antenna?

Yes, download tests! :-)
Also, if it's easy, can you open them up and take some high-res photos?

Yes, I've not found any picture on the internet of the internals
Another thing that can't be found is VSWR and gain graphs/plots, a bit disappointing coming from Mikrotik.
Pretty sure those 5dBi are not across all bands... they never are.

A NanoVNA might come in handy to do some superficial graph. :)

They're very well sealed, seeing as they are designed for outside mounting up a mast.

Connected two to my chateau LTE12, disabled 4x4 mimo as it's not going to help.

Just switched back to this, it may be better than anything else I've used.

Mikrotik have advised there is updated modem firmware for my Chateau 5G.

Does a NanoVNA work with Linux?

There is a linux app for it, forgot the name, it works, but you don't really need a computer with the nanovna since it has its own display and everything.

I had one of these in the early days of trying to improve my connection. It's a tiny antenna and the fact you have to use your own SMA cables is odd.

Never used it outside but there was a slight improvement over the internal antennas of the B535 I was using at the time.

I suspect it'll just be a couple of PCB paddles on the inside. For the cost, it won't be anything fancy.

They look more like petals than paddles but not a bad summation.

Found on wifi-antennas.com

Edit: Actually they do look like paddles.
