The hum that only some people can hear.

I've often wondered about what caused the 'hype' against 5G. (Not the mysterious hums or anything like that) and the closest logical reasoning i can think of is some big business ISP. Maybe a fibre or cable company. Naturally a lot of it started in the US first, and well if it goes global thanks to the interwebz it usually catches on here.

I thought the hum that only some people could hear was called tinnitus!

[back to the cave for me] 😅
In my case its the high pitched dooooo tone, like you used to get when telly stations went off the air for the night, or a whistle sound, or what sounds like waves. I don't notice it, when there is other noise about, but sitting in a quiet room, and boy do i hear it.

I wonde
Article in BBC News today about a town in the UK where there's a "hum" that only some people can hear. Later on, they discuss the hiring of some soft of private detective who attributes it to .. you guessed it .. 5G.

Am I bad for not believing these people?
I wonder if the hum said people are hearing is the 50hz hum of AC power? I mean some people learn to tune it out and others not. I personally don’t hear AC hum unless I go to the USA where the AC hum is 60hz… which I’m not used to.

Attached to neighbours we started getting a low frequency hum, seemed to come from the entire fabric of our house, not loud, but just there and felt oppressive. It would stop every 5 minutes for a few seconds and then you felt all this pressure lift of your ear drums, then it would continue for another 5 minutes. It would go on for hours then we wouldn't hear it until the next day. Turned out it was next door using a condensing tumble dryer up against the party wall.

These sorts of hums are only going to get worse with heat exchangers becoming the norm where we have them outside running for hours, and you get points were constructive interference from several arriving sound waves (not dissimilar to beam forming with Wi-Fi) can amplify the noise making it noticeable some distance away in a certain spot.

Holmfield it sounds like they are getting some sound waves from a distance away and some homes are getting them hitting their properties constructively, causing a noise. Other homes are lucky if they get out of phase waves reaching them so they get a cancelling affect.
