I just tried to cancel my Virgin Broadband and decided to try the chat option to see if that would cut down the marketing/upsell noise that Virgin always introduces.
All I can say is don't bother as it does not speed up the process and the person at the other end still does not care what you say and my main reason for leaving is the lack of IPv6 support and upload speed which I need for work. The only good thing is that you get a nice log of what they are saying to show that you have tried to cancel using their process.
The whole process including wait time was about 45mins and oddly they cancelled using their 30-day notice terms, rather than at the end of the contract terms which would have been a longer time period.
Now for the O2 contract which should be easy as I can just transfer the number - 1pmobile here I come
