So CityFibre initially started at lightning pace in my city enabled its initial areas which is about 1/4 of the city all within about 15 months. However the contract for the build is a whopping 5 years and if they continued at that pace they would have been way ahead of schedule.
Openreach currently have very little planned coverage for the areas CF have not yet built/activated. My theory is that CF knowing they have about another 2 and half years left to their deadline, will be prioritising builds in other cities where they have Openreach or other altnet competition whilst in my city they have a FTTP monopoly.
Now Openreach have announced of what is a potential end game of their rollout (concentrating on partially built areas instead of going into new ones), there is now the possibility my City will end up with very little Openreach coverage, only a few exchange areas are planned. Which equates to about 3-5% of the city.
So thats my theory, and might explain why some areas seem to get fairly fast CF completion and others wait several months after works are completed.
