The new O2 service starts on the 15th, and for O2 customers its only about £7.50 a month for upto 8mb AND a free wireless router.

Asked for my MAC code today from firenet.

On the Sky LLu line check page it says I should get speeds of about 7mb on LLU, as at the moment I only get 3.5mb indicated connection speed, but speed tests give an actual speed of about 2.4mb.

Question for current LLU Isp users, if i go for the upto 8mb service, should i get the 7mb speed, or will I have to sign up for one of the faster lines to get that speed?
Line attenuation is 49db

Connected today: new speeds:Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,148 / 4,741 which is better than 444 up and 2800 down, so happy, just see how the FUP goes

I doubt you'll get 7Mbps unless you live right next door to the ISP and hardly any other people use it in your area. The actual speed your line can do is only half of the equation with the other side being congestion, interference, distance and hardware related. Seems to me like the 4Mbps you’re getting is reasonably good though, wish I could get a stable 4Mbps :) .

Your on a ADSL2+ line which can give higher speeds on longer lines depending on quality, post your router stats you may be able to inprove it more if theres internal wiring problems.

Mark, you want to pm me your line stats I might be able to help unless tour at 63DB attenuation lol :p

Heh, im ordering my broadband with o2 next week, and My attenuation is actually 63db, so im not holding much hope for a stunning speed. Hopefully should be faster then the 1 meg i am getting currently tho.
