Three 5G- very low speed as of late.

Old (ish) thread I know but I'm on Three 5G mobile broadband in the Oval area (just down the road from where @neily is and my speeds have dropped considerably in the last few months. Network checker only ever says the same generic rubbish about "engineers working on masts". It got so bad one day that I got in touch with Three - eventually I managed to talk to someone on the phone and they said that they were constructing new masts and that the network was currently congested. They also said I could expect a noticeable increase when the new equipment is online which they said would be from October 20th. So we will see. They also said they would make some "tweaks" their end which should give me a more consistent experience - don't know what they did but it does seem better (though still not as fast as it used to be)

Watch this space I guess. If it doesn't improve then it will be a real shame that i've still got 18 months on the contract...

Someone may drop by to explain (I don’t have one sorry). @The Wee Bear Might know 🙏🏼

It's usually just under network settings / profiles, you can either edit it or add a new one using the +

Bear in mind this isn't a three branded router bertie_bassett, so they may have removed the option.
You could also try the network settings / apn settings in the older Huawei HiLink app, that might still work, not sure though.

The same happened to me, first month it was great 100Mbps-120Mbps 24/7 (even saw over 200Mbps on 4G in the early hours) then it went down hill from there. 6 weeks in it was around 10-20mb during the daytime up until 4pm then totally unusable after that until midnight with sub 1Mbps speeds. I had numerous conversations and call backs with them, 2nd line, 1st line support, then direct with the engineers, it was mast contention and they just lied until the cows came home that they'd address it but ultimately never did. In the end they let me leave whilst still in contract with no penalties.

18 months later I give three another bite of the cherry (my Virgin media was out of contract) as I knew I had a 15 day cooling off period. It was just as bad. Left on day 2.

Someone else from the same area as me had a similar issue and got given a date sometime in mid-November for a fix... so it's hard not to conclude that they are in fact doing sweet f.a. and lying about it...

Same here. Started amazing, when down hill after a few months. Rural location so seasonal changes make a difference, but it’s nowhere near as good as it was last years with not changes to equipment.

I've had to buy DSL because of the issues with three now. I had 4 years of amazing speed, and now crap. It sometimes bounces back to 300mbit, but many times now under 40mbit. I'm giving up on it to be honest. I will try to survive on 90mbit DSL until FTTP arrives now.

I think its the lack of back-haul to and from their data-centres at each mast that's the issue (not spectrum availability) and it's more than fixable!

The problem is Three seems to have a total inability (or refuses) to address the issue. My home mast contention hasn't been addressed for years shows its something they are not bothered about and are more than happy to provide a poor service in my area.

In the long term with Three 5G this is a situation which will only get worse over time but they're burying their heads in the sand.

I've been having terrible connection speed for a few weeks now and Three haven't been helpful.

I'm not sure what's been happening... when I go to Network Status checker there's no issue reported.
I used to have 100Mbps+ in download speed but now I can barely reach 50Mpbs

Does anyone else experiencing low speed and unreliable connection?

I had the same issue with Three and had to leave. I couldn't get over 20Mbps. I got through to support who confirmed there was infact a problem with the mast in my area. They gave me no deadline for repair so I was stuck. Vodafone seems fine.

Also it was a nightmare leaving Three, they didn't send the return bag when they promised and kept charging me for the service despite closing my account. Around 12.5 hours in total on support over the 6 months.

I am not at all surprised by this when you consider the mobile broadband providers are trying to maximise return in the face of satellite, and eventually fttp.

Hopefully fttp rollout will speed up and the good citizens of Dankshire will enjoy speeds which allow all those benefits others currently enjoy (and in some cases whinge about).

Also one hopes local government is kept out of the loop, they did so well with fttc!!

Also a victim of this. I was getting up to 600Mbps in peak and 1200Mbps offpeak. Last few weeks it's holding steady at 50Mbps. Unlimited data sim in unlocked CPE Pro 2.

Interestingly, just finished a chat with "tech support" who asked a few simple questions and surprisingly didn't ask me stupid basic troubleshooting questions. He said he was going to make a change to my account to improve the speed and I needed to restart my router, at which point my connection dropped.

I restarted the router and speeds went from 40Mbps to 100Mbps straight away. He said this should improve over a few days and he'll call me later in the week to see what's going on. I don't think the 'change' will actually work, but we'll see.

What I don't understand is this. My PC connected with ethernet to the router gets 50Mbps. My phone and ipad connected via a mesh thats connected to the router get's 200Mbps, (And I believe this is hitting the limitation of the mesh wifi.) Anyone know why I would be getting different speeds? Is my PC being throttled compared to other devices do you think?
