Three broadband just loses it (daily)

We switched to Three 5G broadband a month or so ago. Speeds have been good at up to 500Mbits.

Initially it seemed rock solid. But now, and seemingly every day, the connection nearly dies. Pings of 4-5 SECONDS, and then speeds of 0.1-1Mbits via things like Speed Test. Web pages load like I'm on dial-up across different computers/devices.

It's not a wifi issue because this happens with a wired connection too (straight to the hub).

The good news is that I can fix it via either restarting the router via its control panel, or cliking the Reconnect button. Once that's done we're back to the 30-40ms ping, and speeds of 250-450Mbits.

Seems to happen in the morning around 10am.

Tech details:
  • H122-373 hub
  • Profile is set to Auto(default). Somehow that had switched itself to the "3 UK" setting, which I initially though was causing the issue.

sounds like you are being busted down to 4G, the exact same thing happens on mine. lightning fast 600-700mbit, then it goes really slow and when I log in i'm back on 4G. Reboot , back on 5G , fast again. IIRC there's no way to lock it to "5G only".

Mine does exactly the same thing can get 840Mbps down.... Then suddenly the webpages load sooo slow.. 1400 ping.....1.0 Mbps download. A soft reboot and it flys again. I read on another site that some one had similar problem and turned of auto updates and it cured it.....Could be a load of tosh....But i might give it a try .............

mine is in bridge mode, and auto updates don't work in bridge mode. But maybe there is something to some combination of settings. Worth investigating! it is rather irritating. I sort of minimised it by doing daily reboots and i've got it on a smart socket so I can remotely turn it off/on if I need to (5G is not my only connection)

It could be prioritizing all traffic when it goes to look for updates, and this is throttling the router? Just an idea....

There is no more free one afaik.
Yes it was removed from the Play store a good while back now Lucian.

You maybe can still get it elsewhere though if you feel safe enough installing it from unofficial places.

Think I paid a tenner for the pro version after trying out the freeby and really liking it, it's a must have app if you use a Huawei router.

Yeah, I also have the pro, it's not a bad app.
