Three Broadband Tech Support

While slow speeds on good signal would ordinarily suggest to me capacity, I had had a good number of months prior to that where capacity-related fluctuation would result in the lowest speed at peak of 100-120mbps.

Overnight this went down to fluctuating between 2 and 30 (as in one minute 2, next minute 20, next minute 2, next minute 10 etc. Never above 30 and again massively fluctuating minute to minute, and consistently doing this no matter the day or time.

Unless 10000 extra Three customers moved into my street overnight, and all decided to watch cat videos on YouTube endlessly, something most definitely happened equipment-wise. It wasn't me, so it must have been them.
You can choose what you want to believe, however the issue is not a hardware or technical 'fault' and is just a characteristic of Three's capacity issues and traffic management. You cannot do anything about it.

What is happening to you has happened to countless others already.

It's *extremely* difficult to completely saturate an entire 100mhz 5G carrier, and Three are not known for aggressive traffic management.

Seems like an issue with the 5G side of things. Perhaps OP's 4G is providing most of the uplift and 5G is malfunctioning...

Definitely the case. Was very sad to lose my until then stellar 5g service.

Saves on paper with so few instructions.

"Have you tried turning it off?"

"Have you tried turning it on?"
Sometimes feel like users would be better served if Three subcontracted first-level technical support for Broadband to the members of this forum.

I wonder how that might work..

(ISP) Hello this is ISPReview tech support, my name is Wee Bear. How can I help you?
(user) Erm, I'm having trouble with my broadband.
(ISP) Yeah tell me about it. My mate got unlimited for £6 but I'm having to pay £20
(user) About my broadband, it has stopped.
(ISP) Hang on, the dog wants to go out.
(user, getting a bit annoyed) Look you're tech support, are you going to help me or not?
(ISP) Yeah sorry about that. Have you turned your router off and on?
(User) Yes of course. That was the first thing I tried.
(ISP) Oh the dog wants to come back in. Hang on.
(User) Hello? Are you there?
(ISP) Oh bugger one of the soap dispensers has just fallen in the sink.

(User) You're doing this on purpose aren't you. I'm going through marital problems, my kid has a stinking cold and my internet won't work. Why won't you help me?
(ISP) Now now, sir, that isn't going to help is it? Just calm down and tell me your problem.
(User) OK, deep breath, I'm better now. I lost 5G then everything shut down and now there's nothing.
(ISP) 5G? You've got 5G? You lucky b*stard. My pole of Wonder got cancelled and there's just a hole in the ground.
