Three Coverage Map Gone Weird (Again) 4G Blanket coverage

Stageshoot

What are Three upto

The Coverage checker seems to be showing almost blanket coverage of the UK for indoors and outdoors. Cannot be right!!

Looks to me like Three is now assuming 800Mhz support, I remember before if you put in a phone that supported "SuperVoice" it would give similar results, VERY misleading though.

Unless they’ve assumed the 3G coverage replacement will cover in this manner and slowly changing it up. Possibly automated from a central location.

Edit: on tapping 3G, this looks more akin to my previous 4G coverage map so maybe someone’s done a doody.

Yes I was always in an outdoor area, not any more, weird, must just be a temporary glitch.

There's obviously been a minor update since I first looked this morning. Then, the text accompanying the 4G map was saying 4G not available despite the graphic (erroneously given past 3 sim use) indicating it was available. Now the text is also saying I have 4G outdoors on 3 for the first time (though I'm quite near a white pixel and so this might be optimistic).

Checked this morning:
Enter my post code says no 5G. Look at the map and 5G covers my area.

Seems to be resolved now

seems to claim a lot more 5G coverage than before for me. You can still see the clear "indoors areas" round the 5G masts but their coverage is stated at a lot more than before.

If you put an older phone in like a Galaxy J1 and hit 4G it’ll then show the “old“ coverage map (minus B20 presumably).

Quite misleading now frankly. A lot of areas where there’s maybe 1 bar of B20 4G, or none at all, show as having good outdoor coverage. Their mapping software can’t seem to calculate how well the signal travels properly.

Yeah, doing that shows the normal 4G coverage for me but the default shows the B20 coverage. Seems they've switched the maps by accident as they've updated them.

LOL after getting a lovely email from Three CEO contact basically saying I am in a "No Coverage" area, despite having decent speeds for about 14 months of a 24 month contract and saying my case is now deadlocked, Three are now showing my postcode is "4G - Yes - Excellent Service" with "Outdoor and indoor coverage" which also backs up my signal stats showing a RSSI of -61dB on Band 3.

Couldn't make this stuff up!

** Busy grabbing screen-shots for ADR case **

EDIT : Is this the data they are providing to Ofcom, to give the illusion of "blanket" coverage?

I’d say it was most probably done on purpose. Virtually all phones support B20 nowadays besides maybe a handful of Chinese models. It makes their coverage map look much better than it really is, even if it’s not completely accurate. EEs looks much the same.

Certainly not the one they’re giving now. Ofcoms is fairly accurate I’d say from my experience, unlike Three’s. Some interesting contradictions on Three’s coverage checker too…

The B20 coverage version of the map was always available when you provided a compatible device along with the postcode. Not sure why they'd want to show this coverage as it's clearly misleading and with most masts the B20 priority is below 3G so users would be connecting to another band.

Maybe they intend to make B20 higher priority over 3G? bit early to do it though.
