General discussion related to Three's roaming

I am thinking of using Three's EU roaming (7 day) pass this month in Greece but not sure if it's worth it. Yes the hotel does have WiFi but in my experience the hotel WiFi connections are usually oversubscribed.

Does Three roaming have bottom data priority?

Do mobile networks in Greece work reliably?

What generation does it roam on (4G, 3G) ?

Is it mobile hotspot capable?

Are there any other FUPs or small prints I should know? (I am aware of the 12gb limit)

Thanks for answering the questions
You should look at @Fil's post from yesterday regarding roaming lol

The last few times I travelled to Europe, I ordered a Lebara SIM which was on offer. uSwitch are currently promoting a no contract Lebara SIM which includes 30GB per month for £3.58 (rising to £8.95 after 3 months unless cancelled). Their terms state that the full 30GB can be used when roaming. There might be better deals at other sites.

I use WhatsApp for most things so stayed connected with most people without any issues, and I diverted all calls to the Lebara number before leaving the UK. The only downside was no access to SMS but rarely use this.

Evening from Greece! I’ve got iD, SMARTY, Lebara, Spusu and EE with me (thankfully most of them are eSIM) and out of all the networks, Three has the best performance and the first thing I recommend you do is to go onto the COSMOTE network the minute you land as they are the largest and best network in the country.

I’m in Rhodes and 5G is pretty much everywhere on the island and it’s speedy too. Even in the middle of no where it’s been no issues (though my dads Pixel has locked to 4G COSMOTE and doesn’t want to change to 5G).

Hotspot works flawlessly as well which makes life easier and the only FUP is 12gb on Three (30 GBs on iD).

I would say it’s worth having roaming just when you’re exploring etc. It’s so much easier than getting lost!

Hope that makes sense - happy to answer any other questions :)

Three will work fine, as per Fil's tests.

If you are concerned about data limits and speed (as your data is never going to be perfect speed) you are likely going to get better performance and pricing on local networks. Cosmote does unlimited data for 6.50€ a week for example, I think a SIM card is about 5€.
