I was on a 30 day rolling 5G mobile broadband contact with Three for a few months, and generally it was great. I'm not officially in a 5G area even though we get 5G on our phones, so I had to use the URL 'hack' to order my sim and 5G ZTE MC801A router. I was averaging over 200mbps even at peak times, sometimes 300+ late at night (I know many people get much higher, but we are in a very rural location). The router always reported being connected to "5G".
A couple of months ago Three emailed me offering me a 24M contract for £10 a month, going up to £20 for the final year. I went with this thinking little would change, just the cost. However since 'upgrading' my speed has dropped to an average of 150mbps, often sub-100, and my router has never connected to 5G, only 4G+. I'm using the same ZTE 5G router (and firmware) and same SIM card.
What's going on? am I seeing the general performance issues that many Three customers are reporting lately, or have they limited me to 4G+ on this new contact?
