I am very sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
I have brought a ring video doorbell setup was

and it is I my living room now the ring app shows
that I have a poor single to the doorbell I have a
tp link range extended at the top of my stairs
I live in a 2nd floor flat not multi-story anyway
the range extended as made no difference to signal strength
I am not technically minded so please can you help me with any
suggestions has to get a stronger signal thank you very much

Have you connected the ring to the extenders WiFi Network?
If you have and it still shows a weak wifi signal, you might be best suited to the “Ring Chime Pro”. A family member has one - they boost the wifi signal to the ring doorbell whilst also acting as an indoor chime.
It also has a light on the bottom that illuminates when walked past in the night, plus when someone rings the doorbell so it is good if you’re hearing impaired too which is a nice added bonus.

(Edit: bubbles was faster than me, in any case...)

Are you sure the doorbell is connected to the range extender?

Some extenders create a new WiFi network (different name, maybe different password). In that case, you'd need to also connect the doorbell to the new WiFi network, otherwise it will connect to the main one broadcasted from your living room.

Some extenders create a new WiFi network with the same name and password. This is good if you want devices to move between both, but ideal if you want some devices to only connect to the extender. Just because they're closer to the extender, it doesn't mean they'll connect to it (WiFi is a bit weird sometimes).

If you can tweak this, then you can try having a different name just for the extender. Also, if there's an option to select between a 2.4 and a 5Ghz network, use 2.4Ghz as the range is better (slower, but better for signal).

There's also the possibility that the location of the extender is not ideal. Sometimes the walls or something like that are better at "absorbing" the signal, making the signal from the living room still better for the doorbell.

You didn't say if the doorbell was working well or not. If it is, then you probably don't have to worry. Just keep an eye on your WiFi performance... sometimes a device with weak signal can make the WiFi network slow to all other devices because it needs to keep retransmitting data to the device with bad signal.

thank you very much for your replys It is really appreciated.
like I said I am not technically minded but this is what It says
when I do a Wi-Fi search ... it says three WiFi and underneath
that it says three EXT and yes the doorbell is working to
the best of my knowledge. so am i right that i have to Connect to
three EXT and not to three WiFi I am sorry if I am not making sense.
I did follow the instruction setting up the ranger extender but I don't
no which is Wi-Fi is connected I know that the passwords were the same

in three images is my router, range extended, and as you can see it's not that far down to my front door hope this helps

If that _EXT network is from your WiFi extender, then yes, make sure the doorbell connects to it and not to the main network broadcasted by the Three router.

I'm so sorry but how will I know if it connected to the EXT

I assume the information about the WiFi is in the Ring app?

Ring have instructions on how to connect to another WiFi network on their website:

---

To reconnect a Ring Video Doorbell or Security Camera to your wifi network.

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Tap the menu (≡).
  3. Tap Devices and select the Video Doorbell or Security Camera you'd like to reconnect to wifi.
  4. Tap the Device Health tile.
  5. Under Network, tap Change Network and follow the prompts in the app.
  6. Allow some time for your device to fully reconnect to the network, then check your wifi signal strength in Device Health to confirm it has successfully reconnected.

Have you tried changing wifi channels?

hi this is all i can find in the ring app

Have you connected the doorbell to that "_EXT" WiFi network or not?

If the instructions I shared above don't work for you, then contact Ring's support and ask for the steps as you really need to connect to the WiFi network from the extender.

I wouldn't buy anything else until I'm sure the signal from the extender can reach the doorbell. For that, you need to connect the doorbell to the new WiFi network.

There should be an option under device health to change wifi networks. That's where you need to select/connect to that _EXT network. Above it there's also info about the name of the WiFi network the doorbell is connected to.

By the way, even if you buy that Ring Chime Pro, you'll need to update this so the doorbell connects to the Chime Pro. This is not a step you can skip.

I took an extension lead(temporary) from a power socket down my stairs plug in the extended check the single strength from the main route to the extended and it was perfect. then I opened the ring app and checked the settings and it said that the ring doorbell was connected to the range extended and it was green at 47 ring recommend 50 or below 😉
