Three Oversubscribed Areas Alert! (And What Action Has Three Taken)

High Wycombe is awful all day and in the evening, in the early hours of the morning, you'll get a get a solid 20mbps - the minute you get into the town centre, total congestion and pushing 0.5mbps all day long.

Incredible packet loss, the only places it works are outside the Three store, and once you've gone up the hill to the Cressex area where you hit silly numbers like 600-700mbps!!

I had to leave them for EE (on 1p) as it was so bad.

Someone should make an O2 verison of this thread

Update on ST7 Church Lawton, its been 2 months now and still during the day there's no data flowing.

I can't give speed results as speed tests fail. During the early morning and late evenings though you can get up to 30mb download on 4G.

EE and Vodafone now have rather decent 5G in the area, 3 is really lacking.

Good news is they let me out of my 2 year home broadband contract really easily to be fair to them. They did a search on the postcode and said "yea our service is going to struggle there" and allowed me to cancel with immediate effect or have 3months free to see if it improves as he said capacity work was expected in the area.

I was actually taken back how helpful they were and didn't want cancel but I already had Sky fibre installed as I need a reliable connection for working from home.
Im around that area often and i can confirm how bad it is! it has been that way for a few years!

Probably because they only have a phase 4 pole with one equipment cabinet that serves the area

After a quick muck around with Cellmapper, I'd suspect it's 13069 being the culprit rather than the POW in front of their HQ - 50485

Also, just down the road from their HQ is Reading Services. EE has 4G from poles on both sides, Three is also on them but in true BIG NETWORK fashion their 3G only.

Has anyone tested 3 on Notting Hill Carnival this year that has recently started? I heard last year that they were so oversubscribed that calls stopped working.

What speed Sky Fibre have you gone for? FTTC or FTTP?

Last time I checked, VMO2 is headquarted at 300 Brook Drive, Green Park, Reading.

Virgin Media O2 has announced changes to two of its main offices in the south of England with a multi-million-pound investment to create a new state-of-the-art UK headquarters in Paddington Central.

I do wonder if it’s a coincidence they’re so close to Vodafone who are also in Paddington.

I wasn't aware of that to be fair, main HQ is definitely still Reading though

States it on terms and conditions, for example at the bottom of the O2 Travel T&Cs (at https://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/mobile/o2travel-paymonthly-terms-and-conditions), it states: "Promoter: Telefonica UK Limited 500 Brook Drive, Reading, RG2 6UU (“O2”)"

That's just their registered address, it doesn't mean anything in terms of the day to day running of the business.

Vodafone's registered HQ is still in Newbury despite the Group decisions being taken at Paddington.

150mb FTTP, the connection is decent but the Sky Max Hub has caused me no ends of issues.
Seen lots of comments on the Sky Community about the Max Hub being dire - we have the Sky Broadband Hub and it has been super reliable over the past couple years. Moving to EE broadband on Tuesday 🫣

I'm not sure if I'm in an oversubscribed area or not, but you certainly can't order Threes Mobile broadband packages trying multiple post codes, which would suggest so. I have been using Three as broadband for almost a year now and have been very happy. I have however over the last two months noticed, perhaps once or twice a day, where internet connectivity just stalls completely for a minute or so. This is even with my local router and signal being fine. Not sure if this is a backhaul issue or network saturation periods. You would have thought if that was the case then Three hasn't implemented their QoS marking or Packet shaping very well.
