Three Speed Tests

Another go, same place, right next to the router. This one has impressed me as I’d expect Saturday afternoons to be quite congested on the network.

Good just now, but Wrexham had a match on today and also a food market in the town, so wasn’t great.

Even my EE sim in the router struggled a bit and that uses 5G! Dropped to around 6-10meg opposed to the 300-700meg down.

Didn't expect to see another Ashfordian on here!

Can't say there's really anywhere around Ashford where Three struggles, proper solid near enough everywhere now!
Small world, eh? I think I've seen another user mention Ashford on here too before, not sure if it was you but I don't think so - I just lurk around, not really too active :)

Yeah Three performs very well here, to be fair, never had a problem with any MNO in Ashford. Have you seen the amount of Three poles in Stanhope now? Really bemuses me, think there's 2 phase 8's and a phase 9 just on Stanhope Road all within 500m of each other. One of these phase 8's would be the one that speedtest is from as I am myself lucky enough to have direct LoS to it. I think they must have seen all my data usage and slapped down all those poles haha :ROFLMAO:

Three was awesome in ashford when I last tested, even when I was roaming onto the network

How do you find the other networks at the shopping outlet? I found both EE and O2 pretty unstable

Yeah Three is great here usually and is deploying very aggressively compared to the other MNOs, definitely provides the best 5G experience here. Shame I travel to London very frequently and can't say the same about it there, otherwise I would seriously consider having it as my main. It's really shocking how bad Three can be in London, one time I found myself almost missing a train because I couldn't get the ticket up on my phone, and had to embarrassingly ask for my friend on EE to hotspot me. That's also actually the same day I switched off from Three back to EE.

I've never really experienced any problems at the outlet on EE or Three (although I rarely go there and if I do I try to go when it's not busy), did you perhaps go when it was busy? On the odd day it does get extremely busy there, and I don't believe there is a DAS/small cell solution in place, or even any cell sites in close distance so I think if it's busy it would very easily congest.

Overall, all networks perform very well, I've not tried Vodafone extensively as any time I wanted to try it I would get <1Mbps in 90% of the places I'm regularly at, but I've seen they've just turned on 5G here in the last few weeks/days too so will have to give that a gander, means we finally also have at least some 5G from all 4 MNO's now finally 🙌

Some lovely congested B3. This site is serving an area where EE has multiple, whereas Three just has this (which covers a large populated area) and another that's 3G-only with an NTQ.

Definitely not short for them up that way!

We've got our very own down in Bridgefield, but the part of the estate that's actually over the bridge is right in the antenna split. Still works quite well mind, especially compared to O2.

Had someone around a little while ago to buy a car and they couldn't get their banking up to do a transfer....

Yep, that happened to me, first on O2 when I moved here (expecting it to be as good as Ireland), and then with Three in Eastbourne in 2020. Both times I was hotspotted by an EE users, and both times I ported out within the week paying early cancellation charges

Never had to ask someone for a hotspot with EE, even if it's just crawling along at 400kbps, I very very rarely see it fail to speedtest. O2's been getting better around here, sometimes outperforming EE, but I find EE to be the most stable, and once you get to 20mbps it's not worth sacrificing stability for more speed

It's interesting because EE is rarely the best option in X Y and Z place, let's say Supermarket, Pub, Train Station. It might be the best in one, never all three, but it might be the only network that's stable at all times of day in all three, and i've been finding more value in that

Early morning walk to Hayocks Road Stevenston, things looking very good I think, apart from that rather worrying download figure.:devilish: 😁
