I think killer is overegging it. The pricing is still way too high, especially with price rises on top. Even during the 50% off for 12 months you're looking at more than iD or SMARTY, with less EU roaming (by days, and Vs iD, data allowance) as well. Back when Feel at Home started, as it then was, it was killer as Three was actually pretty cheap then. Vodafone have offered a bigger roaming footprint on their most expensive plans for some time and I don't think it's particularly popular either. It’s 56 days for the duration of the contract in total yes.
I wonder if ATW Extra will also be included in this.
They’re in for a killer deal for many if so.
But still it is good to have movement in this space after the massive backwards step by Three of starting charging a few years ago.
If you can find a UK network that allows this consistently. It's extremely hit and miss, I wish it would work better (as you say later many US networks it works much better, although not always perfectly). It's a lot simpler and cheaper to use wifi-calling over a cheap data-only eSim.
Although personally I'm unbothered. I only need incoming SMS these days for OTPs. At least those are always free (unlike US networks many of which charge from incoming roaming SMSes, ridiculous!). So eSIMs are of course the competition and hopefully it makes networks keep up.
