Three UK Network Updates

I think it was a good time to grab my £16pm Three deal, as with these major improvements it’s surely a time to increase their costs and start making more money.

Can’t remain budget forever 😅

I'm still happy with my £3 a month unlimited data and my £7.50 100GB :)

This feels like Three is looking to completely transform its network and make it fit for the future. Three has done far more work in transforming its network in the last 2 years than it has in the last 10. They have always had a reputation as being a network slouch which they very clearly want to shake off.

Three needs to follow through with this if it wants to position itself as one of the big four operators. Falling behind is not an option as the U.K. market is notoriously difficult to do business in.

Transforming its RAN during 3G shutdown is challenging but not impossible. Adding 700mhz to all of its sites is a good strategy and I think the implementation should depend on location. Rural areas where the masts are more spread out I think there should be a huge focus on B28/20/3 with a B32 SDL add, this would give fantastic reach and decent capacity providing rural masts have decent backhaul.

In urban areas there should be a focus on their current LTE configurations with some small adjustments perhaps to help improve indoor coverage and speeds. With 5G hopefully they’ll implement N28 to help with indoor coverage and N78 with the full available spectrum to help further increase speeds in busy locations.

On paper Three has the spectrum to pull off a very good network and it has been proven, what they currently lack is the implementation and willing to do anything to amaze.

With the likes of Vodafone on their tail too it makes for good positioning, especially if the two make a wider network merging, or allowing roaming in the short term, between the two, such as the Orange / T-Mobile initial stages.

Thanks for the response… I accidentally hit post and was editing it while you were responding so just giving you a wee heads up to read the entire post :)

Where did you find the £3 deal? I could do with a sim to go in my iPad.
That'll be his special 3 business deal they had a few months back. 😊
You could actually get 2 sims for £6.

Im unsure of whether they do the deal anymore but it is 2x unlimited Sims for £6 a month, EU roaming and 5G and all that jazz ofcourse. I sold the other SIM off to one of my friends who has been paying for it routinely since I gave him it 👍🏻🙂. Call 337 (not sure what the non 3 number is for business) and ask them what deals they have. The 5G works really well in my iPad, it's incredibly quick - speedtest in my signature was done on it.

I think a few folk have tried without success quite recently Bubbles.
You got in there just at the right time. 😊

Always worth a try though I guess. 😁

Thats a shame, I know a few others on here managed to get the same deal when it was available.
Yeah it seems the only way to find out current business deals is to use live chat or call.

Don't ever recall seeing much about their business deals online.

Three, doing EU roaming!? Blasemphy! They’ve been trying to get people off those plans on their non-business side for months.

Is it a longer term contract at least?

it's a business contract with go roam further on it too... I'll be tethering my life away in Spain in a month or two!

I have to say, I just looked and it’s a two year contract!

That was quite the find! I ended up on iD bonkers years ago when they first launched, did end up getting a lovely recurring “loyalty add-on” recently which works out quite cheap, but not quite £3 cheap and I only get EU roaming!

I thoguht that too... but £3 a month for 2 years I think I can handle. it's £72 over the whole 2 years so it's fine haha
And I thought I was doing well with my £10 Money Savers Expert deal.
Quite happy with a tenner for unlimited everything though, must admit. 😊

I found a £16 a month cashback deal (I got £55) with unlimited calls, texts and data for 1 year. I was very disappointed that Three in January wrote to me that they couldn’t keep me on my old plan. I was initially angry, however I got even worse treatment when I moved to EE for a month and they decided to up my price on the sim only plan I took out by like 8% after only about 3 weeks with them (because I took out a plan before March 1st).

I took my pac code from EE and shifted back to Three. To be honest I’m glad I did because I was honestly super underwhelmed by a network which claims to be the best and wins a ton of awards.

If this network upgrade goes ahead I feel as if my move back would have been a good one.

Give credit where it’s due. I really don’t think Three is the awful network a lot of people make it out to be.

No it used to be the network that was trendy to moan about, but it's come on leaps and bounds from these days I feel.

Not here in Kilwinning of course, it's steadily got slower due to congestion, but I will bide my time till my Pole of Wonder makes a comeback.

It's still better than the awful Vodafone here, that's for sure. 😊

I refuse to splash out on EE and O2 to try them out, because that will just end in more tears.
