Tiscali Block net-Radio?

It would seem that Tiscali have taken it on themselves to block certain radio stations on the net or as it would seem, countries other than the uk !

No there is a thing going on recently with PPL who want us to only listen to uk radio, however i dont see why Tiscali or any isp should take the decision on what we want to listen to.
Internet freedom is fast becoming non-existent, with caps, blocks on ports, network throttle and now block on what you listen to.

The fun of the internet is starting to be removed !

Found this on google from a station:

Radio Netherlands reports that Italian-owned ISP Tiscali has blocked ADSL access to webcasts from some of Holland's most popular commercial broadcasters: Radio 538, Radio Veronica, Sky Radio and Classic FM. Apparently their digital audio streams had become too popular, consuming more bandwidth than Tiscali thought was appropriate. What's next - limits on the number of queries that Tiscali customers can send to search engines

I can only wonder as if they want to block such things they may well be in the powers to do so, but if people complain they may well change their mind.

is there not away around it, so that you could listen to a media player or mp3 stream ?

Got them to test all usa based ip streams and all come back as not found as they are blocked.

If my ISP ever started blocking legitimate websites and services I think I'd be asking for a MAC and a refund on the ground that their service it is not fit for the purpose!

What about using a proxy server? If they are blocking all foreign streams it would be necessary to either use a UK proxy or to use encryption: "Tor" http://tor.eff.org/ may be an option, although it might struggle with the throughput required.

Yes it is still the case as the person trying to use their broadband cant listen to some streams abroad.

Also its only recently that some radio stations have started making their streams only available to uk listeners and in theory they could reverse this so that you cant listen to stations abroad from the uk.

Doing more investigation it would seem only to be certain ip's that are blocked, i.e some stations that use the same provider for their shoutcast hosting etc. Others though appear to be ok. Maybe just some ip's blocked as bad by tiscali although seems odd that that stations in Netherlands also reported problems with Tiscali.

Does anyone know what port Real Player and Media Player use for receiving their data ? Want to see if they are blocked
