A month ago I advised a friend who needed broadband to sign up to Tiscali.
I am with Talk Talk who lied about their service and also failed to provide me with a welcome pack.
That and the provision of Newsgroups swung my recommendation, how bad could Tiscali be ?
Well now I know, I'm ashamed to show my face at my friends house.
I acquired a MAC code from his previous ISP.
Signed up for him online, no request for MAC code.
Rang Tiscali to check requirement of code, "not necessary".
Fifteen days connection came and went.
Some days later on checking their order track which had hitherto said nothing of use at all, it said there was a problem and to ring them.
So they had belatedly got a problem that we should sort out for them and pay for the privilege.
Sent them numerous emails including the MAC code that they hadn't wanted.
Most were ignored, some generated tardy illiterate rubbish that proved that they couldn't be bothered to read the email in the first place, ONE had read and passed on our email which resulted in a reply saying that they could only resolve matters by phone (oh, what a surprise).
When we rang they asked for NO information, just kept us hanging on for 20 minutes, then muttered something to suggest things were moving and to ring back (oh, what a surprise).
When checking back on the order track there is still a problem.
Does this sound familiar to anyone out there ?
My question is, after they have made the money they want from our phone calls will they connect us, or is it just a ploy to deny Talk Talk customers ?
If my friend has a Tiscali aggravated heart attack will they still bill his estate for the service they certainly haven't provided ?
