I was advised today that I would need to pay off the remainder of my contract. Fair enough it seems, but!
I upgraded from their 1mb service to their 2mb service in July. I asked, before I confirmed my request to upgrade the service, whether this would mean my 12 month contract would restart, and the operator told me no.
However, I've now been advised that my contract WAS restarted, as per their 'terms and conditions'. I've requested a recording of the telephone call, as I feel I acted upon false information, and at the very worst was completly misled by their staff.
Does anybody have any ideas what else I can do, as I now want to leave them on principle, but don't want to fork out over £100 for the privelege. I know if a recording cannot be obtained, I have no evidence, but I feel very strongly about being lied to in this way. I would not have upgraded if I was told that it would involve a 12 month extension to the contract, as I like to keep my options open.
