two broadband connections?

And talktalk say they won't LLU your line without seeking permission if you have adsl from another supplier

It is also in the contract that if talk talk can provide you with a voice service cheaper then they are more or less allowed to do what they wish with your line, due to al the new LLU ISP's that was doing the full/part unbundling and "stealing" other ISP's lines BT came up with the name slamming for it.

This is what I get from BT:

There is no BT service recorded against this number. It may be possible that another company provides the service, in which case you will have to contact that service provider to report the problem.

When I contacted ADSL24 with my situation they said that as long as their availability checker says I can get their service then all should be OK.

when i signed up to talk talk i did it under a 30day free trial period, so thought id take the risk. i also did cancel during the thirty days, but when i call up they say when i signed up there was no such trail period on my account n i signed up to an 18month contract. i reckon it would just be easier to pay the fee and get with a good isp. has anyone else had this isuue with talk talk?

i was getting worried reading about llu's and more charges that i might need to pay if i wanted to change, ive a talk talk phone line too so i checked the bt online fault tracker and got this:

No faults found

Telephone number reported 0208*******

There are no current faults on this line, nor were any fixed within the last seven days.

so does this mean i wont have to pay the unbundling extra charge when i migrate to another isp?

have you got any infos that say about the 30 day trial period? personally l think they are trying to BS you since your subscription to their service means money in their pocket... in short those indians arnt paid to let us customers move to another ISP especially when you think about how much an 18month contract will amount to moneywise.

its in the T&Cs, next thing would be to show them you mean business :p

Looks like you may have a talk talk line, might be worth ringing up the BT tags team to get all the details.

I suppose the only way to find out for sure is to try and migrate when the time comes and see what happens. Am I right in thinking that if the MAC is refused for some reason or isn't used, then my connection with AOL will be unaffected?

the net should stay unaffected until the day you transfer, lm told and experienced about 10 mins of downtime, altho l most ppl say there is about an hour for the switch but l guess that depends on how quick BT make the changes.

As far as i am aware if you migrate back to bt based isp then there is only a one off charge off £47 if you decide to go with an Entanet based reseller.

Discontent with TalkTalk

It appears that I am not alone with Broadband uptime supplied by TalkTalk. I changed to TalkTalk from Plusnet and have to say I am very unhappy with the service currently supplied. I have only been with TalkTalk (TT) for 2 months and the connection keeps dropping at random and at inconvenient times. Yesterday my support was escalated to 2nd Line support and I was given a Special Number to phone. Well I called it and was held in a queue for 23mins in total, after which time I decided to end the call because I was getting very angry. On one previous support call I was talked through disabling my network card and when I told the support person that he merely talked me through disconnecting me from access to the net - the phone was disconnected. I am now in the process of following TT's complaints procedure and am reasonably confident that within the next month I will be transferred to another provider because I do not want to stay with TT. I'll post another message regarding this transfer soon.

TalkTalk Terrible Service

Hi Guys
I thought I would update with some additional info regarding Talk Talk. I recently signed up with them (September) and since then the broadband line keeps dropping out, which is most annoying when logged in to a secure site let alone surfing. I am at the stage of following their complaints procedure - 2nd letter gone (numerous calls to tech support - when answered - and numerous emails). Their tech support (2nd Line) began to run some tests on the line and admitted that they couldn't complete the tests because the line kept dropping out (fault acknowledged at last). Since then I have had a vague message left on my answer phone at home in spite of the fact that they do have my mobile and work number. For a communications company they do not seem to be very adept at contacting customers nor very accommodating when customers want to contact them. Anyway the upshot of it all is that although my line ran at around 4M before it is now down to
400K, it still crashes out but less frequently. It appears as though they think they may have cracked it  I don't think so.
Anyone considering Talk Talk should avoid it like the plague.

Regards
Jimbo

Sadly that's what you get when the service costs just under £17 for both line-rental and broadband, the economics to support a "quality" connection simply don't exist on such a heavily subsidised service. If you still have the original BT box then you might be able to try the age old ‘faceplate’ trick (remove it and plug directly into the test socket or better yet, install a new filtered faceplate).

It’s worth remembering that most line rental and broadband bundles tend to cost between an average of £25 and £30 per month.
