Uh-Oh

Hmmm.

Email servers down.

All websites down.

They're not answering the geo-line phones. Not even a recorded message.

The 0870 goes through to the robot-maid and plays muzak - again, no messages about problems and no answer (although I am 36 in the call queue)

Anybody got through and know what's going on?

Resolved

Eventually reached the front of the queue.

Network outage etc.

All coming back up and email starting to filter through.

Likely to take a day before it all arrives.

They say no email should be lost though.

Would have been 10 times easier if they'd put a message on their dalek answering service to tell you this rather than making you wait for an hour.

Hello All,

Our network was restored at 10:45 and service status was posted on our RSS shortly after: -

http://www.vispa.com/rss/make-rss.php?input=all

The reason for the 13:20 post on our forums was simply because the server in which our community forums are stored was the target of the dos attack and the server was taken down for 2 hours while we deployed a backup.

We did attempt a message on our phones however our supplier wanted 24 hours notice to change the prompts.

We’re now changing supplier!

Good news

Great.

Thanks for such a prompt reply.

Agreed - a more customer focussed telephony supplier is certainly a good idea!

Tom.

Saturday 3rd Feb - slow response 7pm - 9pm

Unable to connect 9.15pm - 9.30pm
Also websites down

Websites back up 9.45pm

I think these must be teething troubles after yesterday's outage. I've only been a member for 3 months, but I've always been able to connect first time. I've never known the response time to be as slow as it's been this evening.

Overall reliability

I switched from Vispa as an ISP a year or so ago when I got broadband. Not sure what they're like now, but at the time they didn't compete.

Reliability was always fine.

They still host my .co.uk (email only) which is why I was impacted by the outage the other day. They're usually pretty good - no complaints.

Agree with everything you have said Tom. I moved from fast4 after the debacle with v21 and biscit. I can assure you, Vispa has been like a breath of fresh air to me with reliability, connections rates, good responses, setting up of account, direct debit etc - all 100%.

I suppose that is why the odd blip that we've had over the last couple of days comes as a bit of a surprise. All in all though, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

But if you believe in sod's law ..........

but

Unfortunately, I'm about to leave them as a friend has offered me my own server space for hosting, but if it wasn't for that, I'd not consider moving.
