Uk Broadband Hit By Slow Speed Today

Many isps had been reported of BT ADSL speed was slow today in almost everywhere in UK. Zen, Eclipse & Core isp's had been badly hit by 2Mb speed is well below 1000k as my isp's Core had told me it not at their own fault or my local exchange as it all down to BT central pipes was overflow and higher traffic that cause all UK broadband slow down and speed problem arise since yesterday. Core isp had told me there is nothing they can do about it, so they advise me to wait until BT resolved it asap. I had check the forum at Zen Internet (the best isp in UK) as I had found other isp such as Zen had experience suffered a slow speed and Eclipse isp as well.

Hmmmm ....
Not had any problem here (on Metronet 1Mb), things are flying and have been all day, doubt if it could go any faster if everyone else in the entire country switched off!

lol, I wish I was on 1:1 broadband instead of 50:1.

I think BT should look into other option like PAYASYOUGO broadband with special username and password, so we can pay like eg: 1p a miinutes broadband with 1:1 but I understand it cannot be done because BT must activated your line, in that case other does not have broadband mean there is no broadband on their line (no activation) mean can't use PAYASYOUGO broadband.

Not very happy

I made a mistake to join core isp as the speed is total unacceptable for 2Mbs as here is the result today speed are:
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=d4dc749d108cfb45ef0bdb5748

It was awful, why is the speed is so low during weekend between 6am and 2am. I never had lower under 800K with Plusnet.

I am now asking core isp to give me a mac key as I am now decide to join Zen Internet for better speed quality and I know £34.99 is expensive but you get what you are paying.

NamesCo/NDO no problems here yesterday or any time lately. ;)

I used to be with NDO as they are quite good but customer support is not good as I left them to join plusnet a year ago to have 2mb as that time that NDO doesn't have any home 2000 a year back.

I am sure that Zen won't let me down with speed when I move to them soon.

NDO/Namesco Tech Support is fantrastic now since the move to Worcester - its really worth going back for. And its 0845 rates to call still 24/7.

No speed issues for me with them :)

Same here on F2S, was wondering why I'm getting crap speeds at peak times and getting good speeds from peers.

Freedom 2 surf has been hit with bad speeds for different reasons.

TRAFFIC PRIORITISING

In order to ensure our customers get the best user experience, we are currently trialling prioritising options on our network - we have prioritised interactive traffic (such as web-browsing and emails) over non time critical applications (namely P2P traffic).

This change is currently being applied to peak periods only and we're monitoring the effects to see what timings work best, to ensure that service can be provided as fairly as possible to the majority of our customers.

Freedom2Surf has joined the merry band of ISP's like plusnet who traffic shape their networks - meaning generally slower speeds and poor performance as no packet shaping method works that well - as all involve throttling traffic and to do this you have to fit more traffic down a smaller pipe - think of it like the M25 at rush hour, and then asdd roadworks that takes away a lane - you end up with everyone and everything going much slower...

I think you will find slowdown is now more due to the ISP's all selling 2mb connections now as default and not increasing their network capacities to cope with that level of traffic. Then some ISPs use the "It's BT" excuse...

Not all ISP's traffic shape or throttle 0 NDO and Namesco do not, and I don't think Zen does either...

Hmm, you've linked to something completely unrelated to a specific issue today as far as I can see.

Anyhow, everything appears absolutely fine everywhere I've been... where's the evidence of a national issue?

I actually reset my router a couple of times today thinking I had a problem. Google was taking about 5 seconds to resolve whereas its usually pretty instant. So I guess something weird was happening today.

Fed up with poor speed on 2mb

I am angry and had arguement with core isp about the poor speed all day at under 400K on 2MB and they say there is nothing they can do about it as they told me that BT say 2MB are suitable speed at between 400K and 2200K for 2MB (what a joke!!)

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=68489997108d4999c58e96bca0c (that's the 3rd days running so fars of slow speed)

I ask for a mac code as they told me that I had to wait after 30 days with them and send a written letter and post to their address of my request mac code as they won't give out on the phone, fax or email. It make me so angry! I got every right to have mac code to move to Zen Internet. I had to wait until after 30 days and had to suffer poor speed forever.

I am fed up with speed and rip off as £26.99 a month for 2mb is down to 250K broadband - what a ripped off !

P2P traffic only, for me all traffic is being affected.

Have you checked what it says in their ADSL T&C's, the only terms on the site I noticed which seem to relate to server rental rather than ADSL, mention 30 days written notice and seem to require payment for a minimum of the first 3 months - although I have only quickly looked through them.

Also do you know which ADR scheme they are a member of, I couldn't see them listed as members of either of the approved schemes (Otelo and Cisas)
http://www.arbitrators.org/cisas/members.asp )

I finally got the mac code from core isp today at 10am. I am off to Zen Internet as I can't wait to join Zen as this is my only last hope for great speed and quality and not to metion a truely unlimited too.

It all blame on BT !!!! BT suck !

My speeds are always fine - its not BT predominately its the ISP's over subscribing their BT centrals most of the time... Or introducing Traffic shaping/Traffic Management...

I beleive Core-ISP are a netservices reselelr - who is the same supplier as that to V21 and E7even - so netservices may well be trying to cram on the users...

Oh my god .... check my 2Mb speed result from my dreadful Core ISP
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=715de570108e466f3e03bc0e551

That's the worst ever poor speed I ever seen so fars, by the way I am migration over to Zen Internet ISP and will activated my line on Monday, 23rd January. Hopefully I won't see this poor speed ever !

That's the 7th days in a row that Core ISP had terrible speed on 2Mb as their support doesn't help any further. Don't care.
