UK2 Meltdown

I don't know whether you are aware of this but UK2, a pretty large ISP has had serious problems lately with the failure to provide email for over three weeks. I spoke to a sales operator there today who told me that their support desk was in meltdown.
My interest is that the school where I work has suffered such failure which has rendered the business side of the school paralysed and UK2 have not had the ability to rectify the problem. This is worrying and I am sure many of you who may well be UK2 customers would be interested in the way a company of this size can fail, having a serious effect on your business. The frustration of submitting tickets (waste of time using telephone suport) and getting a rediculous, stock answer 36 hours later for THREE WEEKS has proved to be one of the most stressful periods in my career and I have been in IT for 20 years... any other poor souls out there?

ISPreview covers Internet Access Providers, so you won't find much about web hosts here. Our sister site has a few more details but it never really took off like this one:

http://www.host-review.co.uk

I would suggest moving host and if you need any help with that then let us know, there are a lot of experienced people on here.

I'm a long term user of UK2.net owning a number of domain names mainly for email use.

I've been unhappy about the email delays lately, but this is the first time I've seen anyone else mention the problem.

I now see it's on their SERVICE_STATUS page. First time I've seen a mention of problems there too.

Sorry chaps but the article is wrong!!! POP email is not working and they can't be bothered to respond to tickets.

I've had no failures this morning with their pop. Couldn't SEND via them on & off yesterday. Fortunately run my own backup smtp server.

I've found changing mail.uk2.net to pop.uk2.net would get me mail sometimes. I now check both.

Spoke too soon!

mail.uk2.net is not connecting, but pop.uk2.net is.

I've been without email via UK2.net since 6/11/09 and I've also been advised that mail to me is being bounced.

Sent them a support 'ticket' yesterday but so far no reply. However, I got some email this morning, but only dated today.

Seems they may have moved mail out of house as I'm seeing stuff like Received: from smtpin01.hostedemail.com (smtpin01.a.tucows.com [10.5.16.1]) in the headers and no mention of UK2.net.

I'm guessing lots of mail has gone missing.

UK2 POP email problems

We also hot our website and email with UK2.net.

We've been without POP email now for 10 days! Service Desk Support do not even bother to reply to requests, and in fact deleted a ticket without bothering to reply.

We use Exchange Server to pop email and distribute to email accounts. Our business processes depend upon this email reaching the intended recipient via Outlook, and not via WebMail because we automatically process emails depending upon the subject and recipient.

I have lost all confidence in UK2 as a provider and am actively searching for a replacement provider.

UK2.net totally sucks!

We have been customers of Uk2 for over 5 years .They host several of out web sites all as been well untill they decided about 3 months ago to charge us £1 for every enmail address that we used through them. This was even though we had paid in our web hosting charge for up to 50 free email address. The exscuse was it wasto stop SPAM. what a load of SPAM.
Since then out email has not worked to our pop account. It fails and times out. They will not respond to any tickets and you can not get any help. It looks as if this company is heading for the dustbin. We are now trying to move our web sites to another host, but it dont look promising.
At the moment we are not getting any email from our Web site so our buisness is suffering.
There seems no way you can get help from anyone. There must be a way to force them to comply with there contract. Its simply fraud

UK2.net user 2011

I went through this change over mentioned here - but luckily I had a Yahoo box that was working - I am on dial-up still and their new Host was tooo fast for IE6 and dial-up but was going to up-grade to XP and IE7 so they have put a Forward on to Yahoo untill stopped by me and it is still arriving.

I have now done the up-grade to IE7 but am looking at Broadband ISP not the Big Boys - I recently tried to acess with IE7 but found that it was the dial-up that Ended Session before I got in - I got lots of help from Phone Support back at their move hosting and the chap phoned me on Mobile so he could show me another way to get into my box - it takes about 12 -14 mins so costs me about 20p to get in so Clean up every couple months so they can see I am still aware.

I was thinking about re-opening when I get Broadband but am wondering now
