UKOnline Disaster

Welcome to your NIGHTMARE brought to you by UKOnline thieves, swindlers, con artists and ratbags.http://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=96#

UKOnline are thieves, swindlers and scoundrels of the worst sort. They stiffed me for over £200. They do not answer ANY emails to either tech support or accounts. As for the broadband??? I’ve been waiting over 7 months for it and still being charged. It has never worked properly since they connected it two months late. Tonight like many nights it will not connect to the network. Calls to tech support? It just rings with the most horrific background music until the battery in my phone goes flat. Tonight I got through after waiting only 50 minutes but they could do nothing. Just “put a ticket in” which nothing is ever done about.

Previously I had dial up with AOL – don’t laugh, at least it worked – after calling UKOnline thieves about broadband I agreed to go ahead with it. They told me it would take 5 to 10 days, they suggested I cancel my AOL dial up and gave me a free number to use for dial up if it took longer than 10 days and started deducting money for the broadband from my account before it was even connected!! The days turned into weeks and then months and I used the free dial up number they gave me. Imagine my shock when I got a phone bill for over £200!!! It was not free it was 1p per minute. I emailed about this several times and not a single bloody email was answered. 20 or 30 phone calls later I started pushing the buttons at random and got through to provisioning. They told me the exchange was not suitable for broadband and they were waiting for BT to convert it. They were still charging me even though there was no service. I’d been waiting 2 months for a 5 to 10 day connection! Eventually it was converted and then the nightmare started!!! The service sometimes works sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it will connect but the DNS server doesn’t work – in other words it’s about as much use as tits on a bull!

So my experience has been
1. The so called broadband does not work.
2. The stole over £200 from me for “free” dial up.
3. UKOnline thieves swindlers and con artists have no customer service or tech support and do not care about customers.

I would not use UKOnline if they paid me £100 a month. I’m just going through the process of cancelling. It is the worst experience I’ve ever had from any company and that’s saying something when you compare it to NTL or 3 mobile. Whatever you do, stay away from UKOnline thieves and swindlers. You have been warned.

PS Anyone from UKOnline reading this and want to sue me? Please….. Go ahead, make my day! I’d love my day in court with you – this is the abridged story, there’s more than this and I can prove every word of it and you know it.

Just watchout they dont do you for liable now :)

I hope they do try to get me for lible (just how do you spell that word?) I'd make sure every newspaper and TV newsteam was there in court. I beggars belief they can get away with this....

Karajaal have you reported them to ofsted, trading standards to see if there is anything they can do to get you your money back. Also watchdog enjoys to have their day on the tv with buisness that have treated customers badly.

Im with them at the moment and am quite happy.

It is annoying that they are charging you even though you dont have a service, since they use WorldPAy to collect payments. And they do exactly what they are suppose to do at the same day of every month. They do not know the problems that are going on at your end.

I think you should get directly in contact with them and try to halt the payments. Im sure you can claim the money back if you can prove you haven't had any service avaliable. Cancelling your credit card forcing them to contact you would also do the trick I guess. However I dont have much experience with this route.

Wow, talk about unsatisfied.

I used to use UKOnline before V21 and NTL with a freephone dial-up. I always found them to be helpful on the phone and reliable on the Internet. Of course I haven't used their broadband, and my experience is 2 years out of date, but it's hard to imaging they've changed so much in that time.

karajaal , just let it all out.

Dont worry about libel from these cowboys, they should be ashamed.

Libel threats from isps arent worth the paper its printed on.

yes....this nightmare has just started for me also. Was a week ago that i was connected but wasnt. 4 hours hanging around on the crappy music support lines and wasting money and still nothing. Customer Support seems like its a one man band. Requested callback but nothing.

Have reported them to BBC watchdog today.
Anyone else having these kinds of problems do the same so they can sort out these mad cowboys.

If you want a honest answer to what the problem is send me a private and i will do best i can to point you in the right direction of what is to fault so you can get onto UKonline and tell them what needs to be sorted but if you just want to get out of it are you on a LLU line on their own equipment if you are then try the old routes like change the name who pays the BT phone bill etc or you could always try contacting BTwholesale about it put in a complaint and try and get you line moved over or even just get them to run a test on your line see if they can tell you anything, best ringing when its working though (providing it isnt a LLU line), pester BT on 150 to find out may work if you dont know, you could even cut your losses get a new line and bill the whole lot to UKonline but give them warning and if possible solicitors/recorded delivary letters about it addresed to the MD and mark the letters as copy keep the originals with a time scale of like a month before you put the order for another BT line.

Uk-offline

Hi there, I too have problrms with uk-online. My problem is trying to get disconnected since end of august ( I think this is how you spell it) we have had few promises and e-mail when we should be disconnected, one e-mail also said that we were disconnected. The last promise was today 28th have an e-mail to prove it, but we are still with them. The previous promise was the 21st, but on the 21st we found out that we could actually log on with tem  having tried to go with them since the beginning of august. So when we complained that we couldn't log on, they said all was o.k. and was our equipment. Now that we are trying to log off we are connected and they say that we are not :crap:

We changed from Demon Broadband because UKOnline is cheaper. We are having a number of problems.

1. They take forever to answer calls.
2. They told us it would only take a week or so to get broadband.
3. They told us that for a short while we were going to on dial up and this could be solved by THIS Monday and we are still on dial up on Thursday.
4. They said that Demon has not give then one of the codes to change us.

It seems they have broken every promise that they have given us. Though they do know how to take money.

I have the same problem, how do I stop my visa payments the Bank says I cant, they are not providing a service that I am paying for. My problem is the same 12 e-mails no response, at least 100 phone calls got through twice after at least a 3 hour wait and got fobbed off, total swindlers, told them I want to cancel and still they take my money from my credit card, I have a big problem in that I live in BC Canada and the service is for my Hotel in the UK my manager is a hotel manager not a technical wiz and what has it got to do with him anyway.
UKOnline swindlers, please Sue me so I can get my Visa payments stopped.

I am not sure how it works but you I think may have a case that you can take to Ofcom. Bulldog have been investigated for this kind of stunt.

UKOnline were supposed to put us on broadband yesterday. Which they have not. Does anyone know what is going on with them?

They don't seem to be able to give straight answers. The problems were supposed to sorted after we got the mac code but then they were supposed to be sorted last Monday then this Friday.

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to connect people to Broadband? As I am tired of their pathetic dial up system.
