I’m thinking of pulling the plug (so to speak) on these Muppets, but am conscious of the fact that I’ve ‘signed’ a 12 month contract. Are there any implications here????
I would like to know about this too, as I have 2 phone lines and for reasons I wont bore you with, need to get DSL swapped from 1 line to another. I was thinking of ordering a new UKOnline account for the other phone line and just cancelling the original account (which still has 10 months contract) so im worried about the "legal threats".
Can anybody / any company use bailiffs these days if you owe them money and it goes to court? I remember a time when only the courts themselves could use bailiffs, (like if you had been in trouble with the law and owed Fines to the court etc and didnt pay!) But these days it seems like everybody can hire bailiffs to hassle you.
Has anybody disconnected from UKOnline while under contract?
And has anybody any knowledge on the legal aspects and what might happen if I cancel my contract early and not paying for the rest of the year?
Oh P.S. for all those who have problems with their ADSL order / line. BT always have and always will shift the blame. ISPs always have and always will shift the blame. Most of the time though it comes down to BT and a crappy phone line or a line fault. Hassle BT like mad to do tests on your line and keep insisting that there is a fault, no matter if they say there isnt!. Tell them there is "noise" on the line. They HAVE to check it out. Tell them you have tested the line using a 56k modem, which disconnects and you have tried 2 different computers and dial up ISPs and it does the same. Also you can ask BT to increase the "Line gain", which they have to do if you request it (or at least they did a few years ago) Basically it turns up the gain on the line to reduce poor line performance. The operator can do this in minutes I think. Once they have THOUROUGHLY tested the line and you are sure it isnt their fault, you can hassle the ISP like mad and dont let them pass the buck and blame BT. Maybe this will help somebody.
