I received a phone call on my system (Zen router, BT 4600 base with triple handsets), but couldn't answer it because the green 'answer' button on the handset didn't seem to do anything!
Obviously, this was a handset problem, as it was the handset which wasn't working.
So I replaced the batteries (luckily I had spares) and waited for them to recharge, then using my mobile I called my landline again.
Same problem!
I spent a while contacting the BT shop and helplines on my mobile and PC (no useful response), then in desperation (I'm disabled and need the phone line) I used the Zen helpdesk.
Unexpectedly, in amongst the usual rubbish (e.g. 'check the unit is plugged into the mains' etc.) Zen suggested I reboot the router, which was obviously rubbish 'cos the router was allowing me to access Zen using my PC.
In desperation (and to rule out the suggested 'cure') I unplugged the Zen box for 5 mins, then restarted it and the problem was solved/avoided!
So even though it was "obviously" nothing to do with the router, in fact, it was!
So I tell this rambling tale in case anyone else has a similar problem with a Zen Fritz!Box and BT 4600 phones. The old saw of "turn it off and on again" sometimes does the trick!
