If it's really unbranded then the stock huawei firmware should allow that.

My CPE Pro 2 isn't branded but I don't recall it ever having manual DNS settings.

Just got it out of the cupboard and fired it up, no DNS settings that I can see.

It has had various firmware updates in the past on Three and Vodafone though which may have removed the option. 🤷‍♂️

I found the following online so there must have been settings at one point I guess.

DNS Settings on HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro2

How to configure DNS Settings on HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro2

  1. First off, sign in to your router's admin page.
  2. Go to the Setup page or DNS.
  3. Now, you should be able to find Static DNS and Static DNS 2 fields, you must enter the Primary DNS Server you want to use into the first DNS field, and the secondary DNS server into the second one.
  4. If there's an option, you may want to add the third Static DNS.
  5. If everything's set, save your changes.
  6. Good job! You've configured DNS Settings on HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro2.
A few users with the problem of trying to re-enable the settings but not having much luck on Reddit.

It sure does….

The DNS options are just hidden for some reason.

Follow the instructions in this video….

Welcome along to the forums kiplingcakes.
Hopefully it'll work on the CPE Pro 2 as well, I can't be bothered digging mine out again to try it. 😊

I have a Three branded unlocked CPE Pro 2.

I managed to change DNS by unhiding the DNS settings in the APN section.

The above method does not work with my router. It doesn't save correctly and so doesn't work.

I think it depends which firmware the router is running if it’s not originally a factory unlocked version.

The APN route works the same as the hidden menu route if it’s available, but some network issued firmware seems to have locked the ability to change/add new APN settings.

Using something like AdGuard is also another great option for DNS if the above options don’t work.

So an original factory unlocked version should be ok?
