Unknown FTTP Installation Query

Hi all,

A bit of background info: Most of my local area can get FTTP apart from my cul-de-sac and about 5 or 6 streets around us. Openreach seem to have done about 90% of the town but missed our few blocks out and when I've contacted them they have said we are "not in their build plan". Zzoomm and Lila Connect are also now slowly making their way across the town most likely due to the area receiving some very bad press in recent years for having some of the slowest speeds in the country. Looking on the FTTP map thing though and they are coming across from the other side of the town first.

About a month ago I was working from home and noticed a few vans had pulled into our cul-de-sac and were pulling cables through a manhole. Wondering if they were fiber cables I went out and asked the men who told me they were indeed installing fiber cables. They told me they worked for a company called Digital Infrastructure but were just contracting for another ISP on this occasion and they weren't aware who that was, just that they were installing the cables so all the houses in the close could have FTTP and that it would be available to order in the near future. They then spent a few hours out there opening manholes and so on and pulling cables through them before leaving.

So far I've not heard anything more about getting FTTP and I also have no idea where I should be looking to find out who will be providing it. Digital Infrastructure seem to be teamed with an FTTP provider but when I contacted this provider they said our town was not one they were working in currently or in the near future. I also contacted Digital Infrastructure directly but received no response.

Any ideas how I could find out exactly who has had these cables installed?

DI provide the infrastructure for BeFibre who are the retail ISP. So you may want to get in touch with them.

They're the ones I got in touch with after speaking to the DI guy and they responded saying they were not doing anything in our town.

Thanks for that. It does say Lila Connect "is local", does this mean they are available for me? I am concerned about signing up for it as someone I know across town signed up and then had to wait 6 months as it turned out there were no cables in...

Local means it’s known to be live within 5km. It’s not an indication of your premise being serviceable. Best to check with them directly.

YEA local is just saying they around you, but zoom and airband is planned to build in your area but when is the question, probably best to message zzoomm and airband and ask.
