unlimited Broadband

Hi,

I am looking for a new company for my broadband in the UK, as i am leaving tiscali (thank god) anyway can anyone reccomend An UNLIMITED company that induces no speed caps, can be ordered over the phone, any speed will do but im looking to spend under £20 a month. Thanks in advance

Edit: im using a BT line, and not interested in switching to cable.

If you are looking for a provider who tolerates a lot of downloading, then you should at least consider cable if its available...

uh oh... its the "U" word again

truly unlimited adsl broadband will cost much much more. most isps who claim to have unlimited will still have some fair usage policy buried away somewere, so its easy to be caught out.

You will have to make do with a large enough usage limit , perhaps 50 gig at the most, especially for just 20 pounds.

what sort of speed do you want?

There is no such things as unlimited broadband for under £20.

There has been no ISP, large or small that can sustain it.

Currently the only one offering truely unlimited for those prices is Fast 4, in which the reps have dissapeared and problems are increasing.

If cable is available in your area you don't need to switch your phone you can just take the cabel BB keepig your BT line.

its the installation with cable that bugs me, not so much the service, it is available where i live, but i think its only available with virgin media who ive heard bad things about anyone want to convince me otherwise?

usage

in terms of usage, going back to what spy_sat5 said, if you can tolerate a heavy allowance then you could do OK for £20 with an adsl max solution.
Entanet (through their resellers channel) have a 30GB peak and 300GB off-peak allowance package for £19.99.
Also, it's a free migration from Tiscali and their contracts are only a month rolling - so why not give it a go? You've not got much to lose unless you know for sure you'll go over that allowance structure.

The other option, I suppose if you can get it, might be worth looking at Be?

Regards,

Rupert

You heard bad reeeeports about Virgin ADSL Virgin media is a new company that is telewest and NTL merged with Virgin making a larger comp[any supplying mobile/ cable TV landline and internet.

I have been a cable customer with internet since 2000 and the amount of downtime in all that time is less than friends have had on ADSL.

I'm going with an Entanet reseller, it seems to be the best value for money.

Fast4 looks good on the surface, but their actions on these forums creates a less than professional image of the company. Still, it's a dirt cheap deal.

entanet would probably be the best bet for adsl havent seen a bad report on these forums yet

but cable would be thr best overall bet and if u keep the bt phone then adsl would still be available to u at a later date if cable did not work out

best of luck with whih ever option u go with

You might want to give Be* Unlimited a try. It's £24 a month for upto 24mbit ADSL2 service. The only catch is you need to be pretty close to your telephone exchange and have a decent telephone line that can handle the signal.. I have been using them for over 6months now, they do have a fairusage policy but i have neverheard of any user getting a warning. I myself frequently hit the 500GB a month limit or higher and they have not said anything negative about my usage level :)
