Hey guys!
Well i thought since i will be using the forums for at least a week , i would ask a bit more information here , i usually potter around guru3d forums for advice and help , but because that site generally trys to give you expensive advice i thought i would give the members here a go!
Heres my rig ive built/been upgrading for a few years:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
Memory: OCZ XTC Platinum 2GB DDR2 800mhz
PSU: 750W cheapy from dabs.com
GPU: Gigabyte GTS 450 1Gb
OS Windows xp sp2 32 bit
CPU 2.5Ghz E series dualcore
Ive been messing about the video cards mainly , i had a ati 4770 but swapped it out for nvidias new GTS 450 when it was released.
I wanted to get a significant performance boost on call of duty 4 , as someone who has played this game to a almost professional level , it is key to having the best performance out my of machine.
Key Issues:
1: Bullet Registration , having good bullet reg means the enemy will die on cue , if you aim at him , and fire your gun nothing should stop him from going down , but with bad bullet reg that happens , and that's usually caused between a mixture of the server provider and your fps , more often than not its your machine. Because my fps drops so drastically during gun fights , it causes me to lag and miss more , and what ever bullets do connect dont kill the person as they should , he takes less damage because your missing half of them due to the fps decrease.
2: Movement , Not being able to move due to the fps dropping is a big big no no , movement is key to being a great player , if you can move fast enough you can out do the other team and sneak behind them , but because the fps drops its hard to do it , you need 250fps constantly! to be able to move well.
3: Fps Plummets on some maps , some maps on the game are quiet high in resolution , and its only natural for a low to mid range machine like mine to feel the impact of the map , its a massive disadvantage , the screen goes jerky your grenades leave your hand a half second to late and so on.
Heres a small fps decrease:
That tiny decrease in fps could of cost me the round , i have to dodge everything in the game that can cause my fps to plummet , like smoke grenades.
Now heres my question , what upgrades would give me the boost i need to be able to stabilize my fps , what could possibly help me keep it to that 250 mark
If you've managed to read it this far , go for a response
If its idiotic i will tell you
But i dont bite , much
:laugh::laugh:
