Upload Speed of DslConnect Packages..?

I was just wondering what were the upload speed on these packages (the 3x, 4x and 5x)? Also, what would be an expected ping time if I wanted to play online games "once in a while". Also, is 150k a significant upgrade from dial-up or wouldnt you notice that much?

Don't know about the upload speeds, but re: 150k speed offerings - it depends on whnat you want to use it for.

If you use the web only for browsing, then the speed would be noticably faster, with pages loading much more quickly and better performance with multiple browser open. If you suffer from really bad page lag, it would prbably be worth it. You would certainly suffer less frustration at waiting for pages to appear.

If you want to download large files regularly (P2P for example), it would be faster than dial-up, but still not particularly fast overall, though definitely ok for occasional downloads such as Windows updates (ok, maybe occasional was the wrong word :p ), AV udates etc.

I believe it would be good enough for games, but I'm no expert.

Hi there,

The upload speed of all three package is 265k. This is higher than the download because BT don't allow you to purchase any less bandwidth for upstream than this.

You mean 256k :p

What speed do these dslConnect packages sync to the exchange at?

Ahh, yes. I was near enough though :D

This depends on how far from the exchange you are. If you are in the 0-3.5km range (i.e. able to receive the higher speed services) then you would be provisioned at 2M - and hence synch at this speed. If you were not able to get these services then you would be provisioned at 512K.
